a bit of update;

Got the neck back and assembled it w/some old strings (GHS Progressives - a new set of the same awaits for final assembly) for a preliminary sussing. Installed the nut (needs tweaking) but no electronics/preamp installed yet. Nothing that can't be adjusted so far.

Took this quick pic at day's end. Will be finishing it off this weekend so I can deliver it for it's Plek-job next Monday. It balances well and feels comfy strapped-on.

I love that bass JIO, but I really wish the inlay on the first fret was the same as the rest of the inlays.

How does it sound?

Such details are my signature. Acoustically it sounds good (no electronics in yet other than the pu's) Sonic update and assembled pics soon. (this weekend)

My Maple 'board reservations aside, that looks f***ing awesome.

I truly love the look of that body shape, would have to pick it up and play it if I had the chance.

I think you'd like it - it's nice to interface with. I avoided making it strictly for me, as I tend to ride my basses toward the hs, so my body is usually more at the upper horn than the "belly bevel". So seated, it was slipping off my knee but when I shifted to the accepted position - it wasn't an issue. Design within accepted perimeters.

I think my next project will be a 5'r and it will be called the Super B. I'm thinking based off of the Supernova w/a bit of variation. I only own one 5 string bass, a nice Parker Hornet which I'll probably base the neck on. (med spacing) Still have to finish the Supernova and assemble my B-Quad. Time lately has been a bit here, a bit there, and I don't want to rush anything. Very much enjoying playing my T2K Mk II in the meantime. (sorry wraub.., another maple neck) :rolleyes:

Well, for what it's worth, I love maple necks. The only bass I own that doesn't have one is my 4003. I'm looking forward to seeing a 5 string Supernova :)

so noted mapleglo :D no, actually, my T2K was the 1st maple fb I owned and although I also love ebony and rosewood (and phenolic) I liked it enough to build up a maple Tele-style fretless w/a maple Tele-style neck and it has a particular tone for sure. (and it's heavy!)

Spent some time today addressing assembly. As with any custom one-off, solving one issue then leads to the next until it's finally done (i.e., no more issues). I've learned that patience is more than a virtue - it's a needed state of mind for doing the things that need ultimate focus and considered approach. In one way time was consumed w/little to show - in another, a few issues were dealt with successfully on the road to completion and ultimately satisfaction.
Assembly session II tomorrow - tonight, a jam session lasting into tomorrow w/my favorite musician friends. yay! :bassist: (takin' the T2K Mk II)

The life of the custom bass builder in a nut shell, as I have learned :)

Geo, have you considered making an electric guitar version of the supernova, I bet that would fly off the shelves so to speak and broaden your market.

Not out of the question - it's funny but I'm relatively ignorant when it comes to guitars, but luckily have guitarist friends who can help guide me.
