Traded the mahogany for a fretless ... new pics...
I thought I was going crazy, but Instagram has set me right. Most definitely playing a blue H3 last night in Atlanta.

I've been using Ken Smith short scale SS RW strings. I'm very happy with the way they feel and sound.
Just got a Huntington 2 and love it, but after my first gig noticed I scratched some of the goldfoil off the bridge pick up by playing with a pick - which I do on about 1/2 the set list. Does anyone know if a light dab of gold touch up paint would effect the performance if the pickup at all?

The baby arrived.
Action, intonation and pickup height adjusted. Neck is very smooth and comfortable, weight is incredibly light. The pickups souud is rich on both, and the piezo give that liveness touch. I think me and Mr. Huntington will soon be friends.

Last night first reharsal with the band. Very very good.
While playing at home, with headphones, I already figured out that the piezo alone can't be used, its sound is way too thin. I got a satisfying sound mixing the neck pickup with the piezo.
At reharsal the neck pickup was a bit too dark and boomy, too resonant. But the middle one mixed with the piezo was very good. Furthermore the bass respond really much at right fingers position and plucking force, so I have a good variety of tones without the need to fiddle around the knobs.
Weight and balancing are absolutely surprising, neck and fingerboard are very smooth and comfortable. The short scale on the fretless was not an issue, very few times I arrived long on the note. I will bring with me my new Huntigton at next two weekend gigs, very happy about this.

Actually, it took me a little while to stop "arriving long on the note" on my fretted H-III's. But now I feel a little awkward playing my 34" scale basses!
I even had a problem with that on my fretted H-II for the first couple gigs.
It's comfortable now, but took some getting used to.
