Survived massive GAS

So I am at the Best Buy in Englewood CO on Tuesday. They are closing out all their music department (shutting it down). Big sign, 50% off all musical instruments. I walk by guitar after guitar looking for basses, none to be found.

I round the end of a row and there it is, the lone bass in the row. A Squier CV Precision in sonic blue. It plays like a dream. 50% off of 349.00.

Financially things have been rough lately. I was proud of myself for walking out. So I'm thinkin' later:

'Buy it and try to flip it on CL." - then I realize if I bought it there is no way I'd sell it.

I decided if it was still there payday (today) I'd think about picking it up. I went there today and thankfully it was gone.

I hope some TB in the Denver area picked it up and gave it a good home. :bassist:

Nothing but props to you. I have had similar situations many times myself and I have always walked out just for the sake there's someone out there is looking for an instrument to rock out with that fits their budget. Reselling it wouldn't be bad either, it's "different" when I see an instrument being bought and resold for more, but some people need to put food on the table. It kind of "irks" me, but oh well, to each their own. By the way, those Squier Classic Vibe basses are truly worth more than $350. Even if paying the full price, people are definitely getting more than what they pay for in those.

Just about everytime I go into a music store I always find a bass that's...."oh, yeah! I'd like to have this."

But I always leave empty handed. I always remind myself that as much as I may like it, I really don't need it.

I did not win in my fight. I'd seen the Squier VM Jag and wanted it in sunburst so tried to sort it out with a music shop. They had none in and squier were no longer shipping the sunburst so they said have a look and we'll try to sort something out for you. I was originally looking at £200, then family and friends discount to knock it down to £180. I found a natural finish Squier Jazz bass which was £275, or £255 with discount. It's things like this that I hate, I've gone up by £70 (for the moment anyway, they're trying to sort out more discount) but I do like the look of this bass A LOT more than the Jag.

Interesting. So if I bought it and flipped it for $250 the person that bought it on CL would not be getting a great deal buying a brand new $350 bass for $100 off? Using that logic all stores should shut down and not try to make a profit, no matter how good their prices?

Would it irk less if I posted "bought this brand new for 175 plus tax but really didn't need it. I'm setting an asking price of 300 so 20 people could try and lo-bal me with messages like - I'll give you 100 bucks, it's used now you can't expect to get 175.00 for it and I have cash in my hand - and pray to God I make the tax I paid plus the cost of two trips of gas"? Which inevitably is followed up by an offer saying "I'll give you 175.00 but I don't have a car, can you deliver it?"

Sorry for the rant, but people that think a great deal is a "rip-off" because someone else got their money kind of irks me, but to each their own. :hiding:

Anyways, I hope a TBer got it. At the least whoever got it is most likely very happy for the price.
