SVT-212AV vs. GK NEO 212

I've been looking at the SVT-212AV for a while now but lately the GK NEO 212 has been creeping in as an alternative. I've not been able to plug into one (NEO) but it looks good- It's a little more sensitive than the 212AV, it's 8 ohms (good for my PF-800 if I want two) and it looks like it goes a little deeper (on paper anyway). Plus it's 100 bucks less expensive. Is there any reason why I shouldn't go with the GK?

If you have any information, I'd like to hear it- Pro and Cons of either or both please!

Its easy enough to modify the plate on the back of the SVT212 for speakon, but i have to agree that its strange they arent standard. Heck, they make the speakon plugs with a 1/4" center dont they? All my heads run 1/4" or 4-pin so im not at a loss.

I dig my SVT212, but the tolex is a bit thin. Ive only ripped it on the back, but it didnt take long. I gig twice a week about 48 weeks a year.

Perfect timing for this thread...I've been debating if I should sell my gk412 and get the svt212av. I'm running a v4b as well, honestly I've relitevely happy with the gk412 but I keep hearing how good the svt212av sounds plus I like the vintage look. The gk412 is a clean sounding cabinet and of course I run with the horn off. Not sure to take a hit and get the svt212av or make a custom ampeg AV grill for the gk412???

Well the 412 is certainly a large cabinet, cant imagine its terribly light, even with NEO speakers in it. Im assuming is a 4 ohm cab? The SVT is a bit odd being a 4 ohm 212, but its quite loud. The V4B is 2 ohm capable, where most Class D amps will only go to 4 ohm, so you are limited to 1 212.

I've played the GK and it has a very clean sound with emphasis on the mids.

I actually tried a 410he in the store and liked it and bought it. I got it home and didn't like it (not enough low end for me) so I returned it. I know the 212AV goes a little deeper, I only needed a bit more low end so I'm crossing my fingers.

Yes the gk 412 is heavy but light for a 412 cabinet, part of the reason I'm looking at a svt 212av is to be able to move up and down stairs without having someone to help me. The 412 is a 4ohm cab as well.
