The 193 days thing is what pushed it over the edge. Don't tell anyone I said, but some of us think it's a little silly that you're so caught up in your rate of progress.I love how a bunch of people attacked me for learning a new technique on bass. I assumed this forum was where people could have conversation on playing bass. Instead you judge techniques calling them useless then you guys talk about being well rounded. I'm sorry if it doesn't add up to the small amount of idiots who keep bashing sweep picking but knowing more techniques does help you become a more well-rounded bass player.
Three octave arpeggio on bass?![]()
I prefer to think of what has been presented in response to your rather unfortunate choice of words and particularly your choice of signature as harmless ribbing. To imply that you are able to converse with some of us at the same level is insulting enough but to demand respect when clearly (and mind you regardless of how much natural talent you may or may not have) you have not spent enough time or had enough experience to make such a demand is downright foolish.
I think the message here is climb down from your high horse. You want to ask questions relative to a specific technique and want honest feedback on your progress you have but to ask, in a polite and respectful way, and you will see a much different tone in the answers. It is not that we as a group have anything against sweeping (some may have stronger feelings than others) and certainly in some situations the technique may be called for. When you come on like you have already left us all behind due to your remarkably accelerated talent you will tend to upset our delicate constitutions.
Now once again are we talking consecutive days or business days, I really want to know.

Well, I've been playing for about 20 years, and I think pretty much everyone in this thread after the OP and JimmyM and the fonz look like a bunch of know-it-all asshats--particularly lilterier and wmcjhi.
It's funny that you make fun of someone while acting like you're about 12 years old mentally, yourselves. Just food for thought.

Congratulations on getting the hang of the technique, BTW.

So exactly how fast can u sweep?I don't know I felt accomplished and I wanted to scream it from the top of a mountain. I would like some more tips on improving the technique. I might even have to relearn it because I pick faster the regular way that I do sweeping.
