Sweetwater Scam

I have bought a bunch of stuff from Sweetwater over the years and have zero complaints. My sales guy (let's call it what it is) will sometimes give me discounts but I don't buy from them because of the price. I typically buy items in exclusive finishes, brands that are difficult to get elsewhere, or if I am looking for a specific weight or grain pattern. Returns for damage, items not being what I expected to simply buyers remorse have been simple and fair. Price alone, I find GC and MF hard to beat and let's face it, reduced prices also come with reduced service. Everyone is different but I found that if you play it cool and are honest up front, issues are generally solved much quicker and are more to your satisfaction than if you hide something or try to lie your way through it.

I do have a serious question …. Has anyone ever requested a different sales engineer? If so, how did that go over ?

I had a really good sales rep for about 10 years...good discounts, great service. He almost knew what I wanted before I did. Then he disappeared around the time Sweetwater was bought out, no explanation.

The guy I was assigned to after that didn't work out very well, so I requested someone else. The new guy didn't seem to have any issues with the switch at all.

I recently ordered a Shure wireless mic for a social club that I belong to and have become the default sound expert.

I ordered the wrong band, full of interference in my area. _I_ made a serious mistake, all mine..

13 months later, Sweetwater swapped me for a better band, sent a call tag for the long out of return policy device, and shipped replacement on their dime. They totally got us satisfied. The used item in mint condition ended up in their open box section. There was nothing wrong, all items were present, and it would work perfectly in an area with different TV channels.

I love those guys enough to have spent maybe $23k there... My first choice for every new purchase.

Just for the record. A few years back I bought an Behringer X32 board from someone other than Sweetwater because it was deeply discounted. I wanted a road case for it so I ordered a nice ATA Gator case from Sweetwater.
After about 3 months I noticed the front rail of the board (which is plastic) had some deep gouges in it. The board always stayed in the case and only the lid was removed to use it.
Upon inspection it appeared that Gator had failed to install one pad in the top and exposed rivets were doing the damage. There wasn’t any sticky residue from the pad being there previously so I know I received it without one.
I contacted Sweetwater about it. They first offered to send me the missing pad which I declined. Then they said they would replace the case, so I asked what they were going to do about the damage to my new board. They said they weren’t going to do anything about because I didn’t purchase it from them.
After some serious discussion they ended up replacing the case and sent me a new Behringer X32.
I believe a lot has to do with the relationship you have with your sales engineer. My guy is great and has been there for quite a while.
