I switched to 5ers back in ‘99 and don’t miss 4’s one bit.

You need them all. 4s, 5s & 6es! There’s times I find the B gets in the way so I’ll play the 4. There’s songs that I play that are in drop D so I have a de-tuner on my 4. If I’m playing standards I’ll reach for the 6es.So I bought my first 5 string maybe a week ago. EBMM Stingray 5 HH and I am in love with this bass and really loving the B string. I found the transition actually very easy.
It makes me now want to only own 5 string basses. Maybe I am crazy but I feel like I missed out all these years. Anyone else have this type of experience?

To me, 5 seems to be the way it should have been from the beginning. As I am moving only to short scale, I am waiting for my Ibby TMB35 to arrive to continue with it.
