I agree with this review:

"All in all, the cabs sounded quite similar... compared to the Goliath, they were a touch quicker and more delicate with perhaps a slightly more textured and rich midrange.

I have the Golight 4x10 and a Goliath II pre Fender. Touch more present - touch more mids - great tone and sounds killer paired with my 350x. Although I have a Mesa coming - so we'll see who wins then.

Eddie, ya killin me. That's the exact kind of setup I want. Goliath II and Jr. Only I'm gonna use my SM-900 and IOD to power them (similar tone to the Ampeg, little less weight). I've heard, and owned, this setup before. I love it. My 6x10 is similar, and pretty easy to move, actually, considerin it's size. But I love the older cabs. There's just somethin about their tone. You got a nice rig. Congrats, man.

SWR Electric Blue II head

3 sets of speakers and 4 tube changes in that time but
no unscheduled repairs yet. Wonderful reliable gear.

I too am a big fan of 12" speakers and SWR. I lucked out and got a pair of near minty SWR 412 cabs for a total of $470...awesome tone, volume etc. I also own an SWR Goliath III and an SWR WM 410T. Like them all. would love to talk to any SWR 412 owners or Big Foot etc. In 1977 I had a Sunn Coliseum and a Sunn 412S and Sunn 118M cab, like John Entwistle(my Idol) in the "Kids are Alright" video. I currently run a Sunn First Gen Model T(4 x6550 tubes) into the 8 12"
and Bass Brothers it sounds titanic and the harmonics i can hit rival my Acoustic 370's and Acoustic 301's. If any one is reading this can you hook me up to the SWR club? Please do not be offended by any of my remarks/opinions. And yes i wish SWR had listened to us regarding 12" speakers. I have 10-12-15-18...yes i am a spoiled brat but that's what Overtime pay is for... woo-hoo. The tweeterless 412 is a no-nonsense solution for a bassist who likes 12"s. Amazingly there are harmonics when plucked only sound great thru my 12" speakers or my Acoustic 301 18"...these harmonics are about 3 dB down on my 10" SWr and Sunn JBL K-140 equipped cabs. Dunno why but if yer a "wannabee" Jaco these harmonic are hard to hear thru 10" and 15" speakers...might be a "scientific reason" for it. Mathmatically these match. 10/15= 2/3 and 12/18= 2/3..Someone with Win SD might figure it out. suffice to say 12" are great for bass IMHO...i'd love to play thru an Aguilar 412GS.

I've just gotten a SWR Workingmans 160 amp today and I couldn't be more pleased! It's great! So versatile and it has to have more than 160 watts in it as it goes LOUD hooked up to my 2x10 and 1x15 cabinets!:bassist:

Now I know why you guys and gals love SWR so much.:)

12"s are great! I have used an Avatar SB112 (500W 4ohm) for several years in blues jams, worship bands, and medium gigs with my SWR Studio 220. Also have a SWR Monitor 12 (loaded with a BagEnd) and a Workingmans 2x12. Twelves are not as muddy as a 15 but warmer than a 10.

I also was a big fan of John Entwistle set up in the 70's. Back then the only good bass amps were Sunn and Acoustic. I ran my Jazz bass with three pickups, two Hi A's (early Bartolini) and a Dimarizo Model One on the neck (EB0 replacement pickup), each had a separate output. The bridge pickup drove a Sunn Model T and 4x12 cab (distorted), the mid pickup drove a second Sunn Model T and 2x15s cab (mild distorted), and the neck pickup drove a Sunn Coliseum bass and 1x18 folded horn cab (clean BIG bottom). WOW! What a wonderful wall of bass power. A real pain the ass to haul, and the parts did not equal the whole. It was amazing, but tone wise my SWR heads blow the Sunns away. I will always be a huge fan of Sunn gear, but I've moved on. Welcome to the group.

Thanx for the number. SWR 101..

I am a dufus, i posted pix, but theys thumbnail, iriegnome i will post again and GemJam thanx, you had a nice Sunn pagoda there. I have not however bought any SWR amps as of yet. Here's my Sunn/Acoustic 370 wall and my SWR stuff.

Man, Gem you had some gear there...nice Sunn stuff. Hey, what SWR amps do you own and which cabs? Any pix. I have only SWR cabs but like the Amps, just haven't played many, a 550X and a SM400, but only for minutes. Skool me BassBro's.
I got 2 412 stacks and a Goliath III and WM410T, so 8 10"...any recomm:bassist:endations SWR amp-wise?
Have a Bass-ic week guys.
