SWR GoLight Series...

the golight 1x15 is somewhat intriguing to me.

stupid name though. not sure ill ever buy another swr though, aside from possibly one day buying a used triad, as they are still some of my favorite standalone cabs everrrr!

Today I traded my old Junior 2 and got the Golight 2x10 sounds brilliant with the Shuttle 6 but it sounds really toppy when married to my Super Redhead needing totally different eq.. any suggestions?
I have a MarkBass CMD112and it doesn't marry that too well either....!

Maybe because it sounds brilliant with the Shuttle, it's bunged up my hearing... I'll leave it an hour then I'll trywith the Super Redhead again.

Turn the tweeter down.

The Golight 2x10 is not a big box but man is it light. For Mega Bottom add the Golight 1x15.:D

As for the Golight heads they will be here in January. BTW they are called Headlights.

I own the Golight 2x10 and Golight 1x15 and me likes em. I can pummel and moving them is such a breeze. I run either the Shuttle Max 12.0 or a LMIII into them with no issues.

Is the efficiency spec on the 210 correct? It is rated 105 db 1W/1M!!! That is the most efficient 2x10 that I have ever seen. I'm looking for something to pair with my Schroeder 1515L which is 104 db 1W/1M (2x15). This looks like the ticket. I have a shuttle 6.0

My jaw dropped when I saw the 105 db, too, so I did a little searching. Another Golight thread has discussion regarding SWR's habitual inflation of their specs, but as long as it sounds good, I'll take the cab and call 'em on it later.

SWR has always seemed to have an affection for giving cabinets strange names. Every time I took my Goliath and Son of Bertha somewhere that a non-musician or someone that wasn't familiar with SWR was, I'd have to endure the laughter and mocking reading of the names of the cabs. It was quite annoying sometimes. Of course I would just smile and say for the 100th time, "yeah SWR has some wierd names for their gear". BTW, I heard from a guy that's a dealer a couple of weeks ago that these new cabinets are worth taking a look at.

I sent John Willis with SWR an email regarding the Specs the Cabs. I will convey his reply.

We talked about this a little a while back. He assured me that all the Drivers that SWR is using are all designed by SWR and meet stated specs. In other words you can not just go look at the Specs of Eminence's stock drivers and compare.

Directly relating to the efficiency stated on the cabs, I can not state what the Specs are but I can say these are some loud cabs.

I have owned the Goliath IV 4 ohm 4x10, and Goliath IV 8 ohm 1x15. I currently own the Golight 4 ohm 4x10, Golight 8 ohm 2x10, and Golight 8 ohm 1x15. They all are the loudest cabs I have ever used. I have played every kind of cab you can imagine through the years and I can tell you the Golights and Goliath IV's are loud.

To the 2x10 Golight. It is a small cab so it can be a little light in the britches but it is so easy to move. If you have plenty of power on tap (600 real watts) you can get some sound out of the 2x10 for sure. If you use a micro head and push it with 300 watts or less I suggest more speakers/bigger cab if you are in a loud rock band or similar.

Funny thing the Golight 1x15 is extremely loud with major mega bottom booty. I may end up getting a second one of these so I can run two of them when I want 15's.

For some reason there is a current mindset on TB to trash SWR . These speakers are mostly all coming from the same source and somehow SWR being a much larger company, that buys large quantities of drivers, gets the lesser quality Drivers? Not! SWR gets the Drivers they design, how and when they want them.

I can understand some of the animosity as these cabs are unequaled in tone/weight/price.

Cheers.:bassist::)

Here is an interesting question. Have said persons questioning said Specs ever purchased/played/tested said Cabs?

Good point! :D

I'm probably gonna buy the cabs once I get the scratch (a long, sad while from now). Since my ears don't have friggin' meters in them, if the SWR cabs sound REALLY LOUD compared to other cabs, I don't care how they're rated.

And when was the last time someone came up to you after a show and said "dang man, I'll be that cab's rated at LEAST 103db at 1w/1m!" Never, that's when.
