Swr headlite vs carvin bx500

I tried the headlite, haven't tried the carvin but i have listened to demos and thought they sounded generic. As far as SWR i would actually recommend getting the amplite instead of the headlight. And use a separate pre like a sans amp, ebs micro bass, Aguilar or whatever pre you want for the sound your after. If you play two different gigs say rock/funk get two different pres if you want

Swr has gone down hill a bit since the 90s but the power amps still work great.

You can use the effects in on the Headlite an get the same thing as the Amplite plus you'll still retain the option of running the very versatile SWR tube Pre.

You'd also have a hard time finding an Amplite for under $200 so I'd suggest sticking with the used Headlite you've located.
