I have a chance to buy one of these which is about 4 - 5 years old in really good shape. $250.00 USD. Anyone use one? I've done a search which had 3 posts taking me back to 2003, but not the right information. Some information:

I now only play in a retro acoustic band with me and my Jazz bass and 2 acoustic guitarists. We have an eight channel Peavy PA with 15" + horn mains. There could be times when I would not use the PA and only the amp.

Would this work for this situation? Right now I'm using a Fender Bassman 25 (2001) and going into a channel on the PA.

I use one at one of my practice spaces. At first I didn't much care for it, but I was used to the Ampeg sound. After some quality time spent knob twisting and what-not I like it more each time I play it. I usually use it in "no tweet" mode and even though my drummer has the typical "heavy hands" problem it has no trouble keeping up...at all. If loud is all you need this will fill the bill and that seems like a reasonable price. I STRONGLY recommend you read the manual and spend some time dialing it in but it is a purdy sweet little package.

I've got a Workingmans 12 combo and it does the job for me.

I play in a big band, and it quite happily competes with 5 sax,
3 trombones, 3 trumpets and the loudest drummer this side of buddy rich.

And thats on half volume....

Its also damn good with a double bass.

i suppose the 15" speaker will be slightly heavier on the bottom end, but its gotta be good.

(I've also got a working mans head and an SWR 4x10 cab so, im definately in the SWR fan camp.... not like some on here... if you want a distorted sound, its not for you, but i like clean and punchy...)

This is one of my fav 1x15 cabs and it's not that expensive. It has a nice mid/low mid orientation, good punch, warm sound. By comparison, I found the Ampeg 1x15 to be a good bit darker and softer. Also, the SWR is not that heavy- maybe 45 lbs.

See if you can get it for $200!

But this isn't just a cabinet. It's a combo with a 160/200 watt amp and a 15" and tweeter. I think it weighs 61 lbs. I know the guy won't take less than $250.00. They were $699.00 new at Guitar Center 3 years ago.

I had both the 12 and 15 Workingman's combo's. I preferred the sound of the 12, but for your purpose, the 15 will (should) work fine. I also used my WM's 15 as a keyboard amp with an analog synth. It was absolutely perfect doing that job. I kinda miss mine sometimes.
