SX or MIK?

Hi there,

I'm having a very hard time hard time finding a lower end lefty p-bass and recently came across two opportunities but having a hard time decide and was hoping you guys can give me some pointers if you had experience with both models.

One is a SX vintage series. Went to try it and had a look at the prices on the web. It plays very well although the neck is a bit too thick for my taste and the electronics needs some work. The price is a bit steep also as they ask 300$ for it. Right away they agreed to take 100$ off but considering they sell for about 150$ new... I was intending on going back and negociate more, and try to play on the faulty electronics etc... and try to bring it down to 100$. Then I would replace the neck and the electronics.

The other one is a made in korea p-bass. Haven't tried it yet so I was wondering how do they compare to MIJ. The guy says it's in perfect condition. I know that some MIJ's fret work is horrible so i'd have to see with this one. Talking about frets, it says that it has medium frets.... what are medium frets?? Equivalent of what... C or B shape neck?? Also the serial starts with a CN... is that a good series like the 80's MIJ's?? Asking price is 300$.

What do you guys think??

if you can try them both, I'd say go for the one u like best! I think even $200 is a lot for an SX, if you could get it for $100, that's an OK deal if it has bad electronics - why not buy one new from the site?

Is the MIK a Squier? That could be worth about 150-200 or so - but all in all you have to buy what plays best to you.

I have a CN2XXXX (92) Korean Fender P Bass that plays like an absolute champ. It's my number 2 to my US P bass and I love it. It is not one of the squiers, and I really don't know a lot about the Korean fenders at that time, because it seems like a dirty little secret. There's not a lot of info out there about them. What I do know is mine plays great and is better than the 2 MIM's I have had. YMMV
