SYB-5

Tracking isn't that bad. You just have to adjust your playing style to suit it. I had one for a while, got rid of it because I wasn't too keen on the sounds.

If you can get it cheap, jump on it and then get rid if you don't like it.

K, It should be in my home the next month i suppose...
I'll borrow my friends Korg expression pedal, Who knows? Might be good

And again, Im really REALLY REALLY Sorry i opened a thread, I was in this rush and all this
So excuse me.

i like my syb-05 but understand that its not a synth pedal but more of a crazy weird electronica? pedal. i use it with my geddy lee and the tracking isnt too bad with the following recc: roll of the bridge p/u, tone all the way down, no double stops and play clean. with that and a phaser after it and you are in electronic heaven. I also roll off the direct knob and use it only for the synth sounds. yes my bass now has no bass tone but for what it is I like it this way. if you want it to sound like a bass then plug the damn bass into your amp and play away!

my syb is definitely leaving the board this week when the Enigma arrives... I still do like it, especially with added dirt and delay, but the poor tracking irks me and I can't really find a use for it live in my current band. Will probably keep it for crazy fun at home, tho.

Listen, don't let these "do a search" nerds on here stop you from opening threads. Doing a search is always good at first, but sometimes you need to start a thread. Don't worry about it, and tell the search nerds to eat it!

Nope, an expression pedal won't improve tracking. It's still got to process the notes, and they just don't do the conversion very fast on most synth settings. Manipulating filters is sort of an after-effect rather than a tracking thing.

I don't think it's something easily modded, being digital and all... But hell, if I could get a SYB-5 which could track as well as, say, the microPOG, it probably wouldn't leave my board.

I had one for quite a while. I should pick one up again. I found a loop on my Boss RC-20XL that was the SYB-5 and a Chorus (I think) and for the part, I cant beat it. Its very deliberate and cleanly played, which is in my opinion the only way to get a good sound from those types of pedals.

Again with the poor tracking. What are you guys trying to do, play flight of the bumblebee with the synth pedal on?

IMO, most of the effects coming out of that pedal lend themselves to sustained notes anyway. The tracking has never bothered me.

I like the SYB-5. It's a good enough synth pedal that it displaced the aging, and too large, EHX Bass Micro Synth on my pedalboard.

My one wish would be to have three (or even two) programmable presets on it. It does a pretty good Minimoog grind (a la Tom Sawyer) and also a pretty good synth bass drop (a la Chameleon) - but the knob settings to achieve those two sounds are so drastically different that there's no way I could make the switch during a show, much less a set.

I would love to be able to push a button to have it go from one to the other. I guess you have to get one of those $600 Chunk Systems pedals for that.
