SYDNEY GTG!!!

Ok everyone, we've put the finishing touches on the organisation for this GTG, and I'm pleased to announce the following details.

When:-
Sat Nov 8th, starting 1pm and finishing whenever we're finished. The room is booked until 5pm but that's only a rough guide. We're free to go longer, or finish sooner.......

Where:-
Pinnacle Rehearsal and Recording Studios.
Unit 26, 159 Arthur Street
Homebush, NSW 2140
Ph: 02 9746 2865

Cost:-
You only need to bring money for lunch and refreshments. The studio has a small cafe that sells pies, chips, drinks, coffees, and even beer if you're over 18. Studio owner Steve is also going to put on a BBQ and sizzle a few sausages for us to buy.

All other costs are being picked by via the event sponsorship from Pinnacle Studios and Bass People. Lets' give both those businesses a standing ovation for their generous support (wild cheering). Bass People are also going to supply some lucky door prizes (probably bass strings and other bass related items).

What to bring:-
At a minimum, just yourself. Bringing equipment isn't compulsory, but you are of course encouraged to do so. The criteria for "what to bring" is as broad as can be. As long as it's bass related, you can bring it.

People have already given an idea of what they're bringing, and there's already going to be lots of nice gear there. Bass People have confirmed they'll also send some nice gear along to the event for us to play, probably a couple of high-end big $$$ basses from Ritter and/or Alembic, and a reference amp/cab, possibly the Demeter All-Tube 300w power amp and matching pre through an Accugroove El-Whappo. Yummy!!!!!!

Have I forgotten anything? If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here or to send me a PM.

Some of you have asked to be picked up from train stations. I'm happy to do a few runs to and from train stations so if you need to be picked up, send me a PM. We can swap phone numbers and you can call when you're ready to be picked up.

Thanks to everyone who has shown support for this event, and we look forward to seeing you all there!

Petebass - What are the chances of Bass People bringing along a Thunderfunk and a Jaco J bass?

(I've been meaning to come in to try out the amp but I'm not working in the city at the moment and as for the bass... who wouldn't want to try one!)

I don't want to be the one asking. They're already being pretty generous so I don't want to push the friendship too much (note I no longer work there). And I don't really want too much commercial representation because you run the danger of the event becoming a mini-NAAM or AMAC. I'd rather the GTG be about Bassists and their gear.

Which way are you coming from? It might be easier to pop in to the store on the way to or from the GTG. It's only a 15 - 20 min drive.

I'm in, we're actually moving *this* weekend instead, so I'll have more time free on the 8th. Bringing MTD 535, Stick, Thunderfacme and *maybe* the Dingwall.

Blatant plug - my band, Baba Ganoosh, will be supporting Erratic at the Excelsior (Surry Hills) on Thursday 6th, from 8pm. All originals, funky/heavy/bluesy stuff with an eastern-influence. It's our first gig, so spread the word and please come along and enjoy yourselves! :)

Thanks Pete. I just sent them one (although it looks like a thunderfunk might be there anyway and someone said a while ago that they would take a fretless).

I'm at Quakers Hill, so if anyone needs a ride from that way let me know. I'll need to use the back seet for basses so I'll have 1 spare seat in the front if my wife is not keen to come (50/50).

I'll have my Bongo 5HH/Piezo, 6 string peavey with upgraded pickups and pre-amp, fretless jazz V SX, ebs microbass II, ebs Bass IQ, SWR Baby Baby Blue, Dragonfly (stethoscope - so no battery) practice phones and whatever else I think of.

Can't wait to get there.
I'm traveling from the North (Newcastle) there may be room in the car, PM me if I can help.

Hey Petebass,

I'll be coming along. I should be bringing My Eden WT800B, 410XLT & 410XST and maybe the 810XLT. (Someone's gotta bring a rig of doom!!!) The 2 X 410's are definate starters and the 810XLT will make an appearance if I can be bothered dragging it out of it's rehearsal space home in Brookvale.
(I'm coming from Parramatta area BTW)

I'll also be bringing my Ibanez ATK305.
