Synth dirt question

Yeah, I beat you to that one sorry! Hoping it'll arrive tomorrow.

What other types of pedals are people using with the ripper to get a synthy sound? I'm new to using effects but have a few songs (Shake Your Body, Dance Like Jagger, etc) where I need a certain sound. Thinking of maybe picking up a octave pedal next?

I was writing about how I personally do synth, but then I listened to those 2 songs you listed and well.. yeah, the Ripper probably isn't the best option for that. I think something like a BSY600 or a EHX Micro Synth or markbass Supersynth or some other 'synth' pedal will get you closer. The Ripper is great at doing electronic "dub" bass (with a low pass filter), but those 2 songs are almost keyboard-like, so I can't really help you, but I'm sure lots of people here can.

EDIT: To the OP, there's more than 1 kind of "synth" sounds, so you really need to make sure that people understand what kind of sound you're after...

the pedals that work for me after lots of trades:
Zvex Wolly Mammoth clone
Robot Factory Pulse Synth - hard to find, but it's the best
Dwarfcraft Robot Devil - and you don't even need an octave pedal
Crowther Prunes&Custard
Iron Ether Oxide - still not sure if I'm gonna keep it, but it's definitely synthy
Copilot FX Orbit - unique mix of fuzz with ring mod

Cheers mate. Yeah I was thinking of grabbing a BSY600 or something as well to play around with. If it works for me maybe I"ll upgrade it down the road.
