Szarp Pan Bas! Polish song...

Hi,

I've been asked to accompany a four part harmony on this piece - it's straightforward and doesn't worry me (too much). Anybody out there know it? If so, what's it about? I know no Polish but have heard that it's a famous and humourous piece. Why is the arrangement just (piz.) bass and four voices?

We'll be doing this at a Polish night and wonder if anybody has any suggestions for a nice, short, melody / piece I could play - to give you some idea, were it a Russian night I'd be looking to play "Otchi Tchorniya".
