t-40 Worth renovating?

Depending on how badly the body is burned, it might not be worthwhile. I actually have a body that I sanded down from a T-40 that I would be willing to just give you to help save that baby.

I sanded it, used some wood filler in areas, stained it with red-mahogany stain, and finished it with 5 coats of tung oil. I also put 4 coats of shielding paint in the pickup and electronics cavities. It came out pretty good. All I'd ask is the cost of shipping. PM me if interested.

Nicest guy.

Great advice, much appreciated. From here on out, we're renovating, so we'll be on the renovation board. How bout that pickguard? Had to get a new one. After that, going to sand the charcoal off the body, varnish and get somebody to install my busted switch. Then we'll put it all back together, hopefully with a few remaining scars for show and sentiment. Thanks for helping the newbie.

You don't HAVE to refinish it unless you have to have it looking pristine.

If you like the way it plays and sounds, then just get the electronics working again and get the bass playable.

I like the charco-burst finish too.

Nice charcoalburst finish :bawl:.....my offer still stands for the replacement body. Here are a couple of pics

A fine bit o' work you've done there Scottpro, but I'll have to pass on your very generous offer. I'd gladly take it but I'm attached to my old beast. My ma bought it for me when I was 14. That said, I also don't want to mess around with the bridge. I'm afraid I'll wreck it if I try to take it off.
