T-Bird experts- Need some help

My son and I were talking about Thunderbirds and we can not figure out what the bracket is for behind the bridge. The Gibson web site does not say anything about it. It is one of them little things that make you go HUH?

That's called an Opti-Grab ( from the Steve Martin movie "The Jerk") it's only on Nikki Sixx's sig models, (and his custom Spector 'Birds) he loops his pinkie finger thru it while playing pickstyle near the bridge........................

I like mine chromed tho.

gibson and epiphone get pretty fun and creative with basses, if not always practical...
just w/ thunderbirds you can get:
gothic models, signature models (some w/ only an ON/OFF switch, no volume/tone), bicentenial models, zebrawood models (guitar of the week), studio editions, non-reverse models, limited edition finishes, elite models, active 4 and 5 string models, and if you have bucks the original 60's II and IV. just waitin' for a fretless edition. Of course one hallmark is the ceramic humbucker.
