Tabs. Don't Get 'em.

I've been playing bass for about three years now. I'm in no means very advanced, but I seem to have a very bad problem with trying to play something by ear. If I don't have tabs, I'll never get to play it unless someone sits down and shows me how. I simply cannot do anything by ear. Even the simplest of songs.
I know this doesn't mean anything to most people, since it's not a problem. But when you first start playing bass, or you're just bad at figuring out notes like me... Tabs help a lot. Especially since they're relatively easy to find and you can learn how to read them in minutes when first playing.

If this has been done, I apologize. This is not a tab slam, but a "maybe it's me" thing. I've looked at tabs, and personally, I've found it to be much easier and quicker to stick a cd in and learn the song that way. Been that way since day one. I don't think that tabs are neccessarily a bad thing, I think it has more to do with me. I just don't get 'em.

learning by ear is how i do it too.

If I can't figure out a song by ear I try to find a live video of that song being played somewhere online because, well in my experiences, tabs are wrong about 75% of the time. By the way when I do look for tabs I use 911tabs.com because they search other tab websites and come up with the largest amount of results.
