Takamine B10/TB10 Strings

The LaBellas are by far the best "acoustic" sounding strings, to my ear; though I've never had the pleasure of playing a B10 I'd imagine it would hold true for that bass as well.

To bring this up to date for anyone who is interested, I'm sticking with the La Bella 760Ns but now with an extra long on the E string and the silk the correct side of the nut. I felt they definitely beat the Roto Trubass.

Another UK guy who just picked up a B10 from Germany is using a Rickenbacker 4445 set - long discontinued I believe, but I wouldn't mind trying a set if anyone knew where to get some.

I've my B10 (older one, made in 1995) since 2 days and already gigged it last night, what a great instrument!
It came with acoustic BG brass strings on it which I didn't like at all. I've decided to try the real double bass strings, I had one set of unknown brand just lying around which I was able to put on the B10 with success (had to cut them to reduce the length)! The hole in the E tuner was just large enough to accommodate the string and I have a little of silk going on the bridge but that's fine with me.
The test on the gig yesterday (kind of acoustic bossa/tango) confirmed this was good idea: the bass sounded just like I wanted, the closest approximation of upright sound I've ever heard from bass guitar. I play upright too and obviously nothing can beat the true doghouse but really this time it was much closer than my previous attempts with different types of fretless basses and even some EUBs didn't sound as close to DB as B10 this time!
DB strings have much shorter sustain and more "bloom", more complex sound overall

I did get a used Takamine TB10 recently. So far, it still has the ~10 year old stock chromes on it while I get used to it. If I change strings, it will be to the labella black tapes.
