Tal Wilkenfeld?

She has a sweet tone and good chops. Yeah, she didn't have to pay her dues like most everyone else, but no one ever said life was fair. I'm sure being a cutie doesn't hurt.
Life? Fair? Hah...hah...hah...hah...hahh!!!!:rollno:

But that "person" can play the bass and play it well. I liked her solo CD tunes...but, I wanted more Beck guitar...it's like her personae and playing meshes just right with Jeff Beck's aggressive guitar style. I just got the feeling that she "communicates her soul to the audience" better with him.

Tal, go "home" to Jeff Beck and do a CD with him!

So does anyone have any idea where she is or what she is doing NOW? Her web pages are way out of date, and googling those internets hasn't turned up any information more recent than last December.

Kind of a shame. She's off to a great start. She worked with
Jeff Beck, for goodness sake. You'd think she'd have the resources to nourish that with an up-to-the-minute website presence.

One of the things I loved about Tal's solo album was the absence of "guest" players like Beck*. One of the things I love about that album is that it's basically the same band throughout and the band really gets a chance to jell. I wish more albums were like that. It's why I dig Hiromi so much, she's had the same band for awhile, and you can tell.

*I'm a huge Jeff Beck fan!

I think they're selling her a little short, too. I love her bouncy elastic style. However, there is no doubt in my mind that if she looked like Roseanne Barr that we wouldn't be hearing from her, at least not so soon. But you know what? Welcome to the music business. Image is everything, and there's nothing wrong with that IMHO.

Amen to that Jimmy!! (shakes off the cold/shiver)

Anyhoo, Tal definitely has the groove. I also understand that she is very good on other instruments too! She started off or played guitar before playing bass. Good choice on the latter.

And that was not my intention when I responded to Buster Brown's post even though I stated I might be. She is a very talented musician.

And that was my point and what I think Buster was asking. We all know there are tons of talented people both male and female who don't get to tour with legends like Jeff Beck when they are 20 or 21.

As Jimmy said....image is everything.

I am not intentionally trying to dig myself into a hole. lol :help:

It's cool Bro! No harm - no foul!!

That's EXACTLY what I was asking...this isn't necessarily a Tal Wilkenfeld thing. Again, I am thrilled for her!! Hell, I would have given my right ...umm...well, you know, for the opportunities she has been blessed with!:D

I just think back over the course of 35 years of my career and can't help but wonder about all of those guys who were OUTSTANDING musicians, but never had much of a chance to "hit the bigs"....for whatever reason...and it's kind of a shame....

Here's a link with Tal from Live at Abbey Road with Herbie Hancock and Corinne Bailey Rae - River.

I wonder if her career would have taken off if she wasn't so attractive. There are many bass players male and female who are just as good as her who are trying to make it in the music business or don't even have a quarter of her success. This is not taking away the talent she has, but in a guy music world, when you see a cute musician, they don't get treated the same.

The difficult thing for her I thinks is she has already been on the mountain top of success and popularity. She is no longer playing with Jeff Beck so I see her popularity going down with the exception of single guys. Unless she can take off as a solo artist. For that you need great song writers to work with, and lots of promotion.

She's on the new Lee Ritnour album, she's still hanging with some of the best.

She plays on one track from the new Trevor Rabin record. Not too shabby. I think she grooves like crazy.
