talk box

has anyone ever used a talk box with bass??? if so what kind and did it work well i'm interested in doing this but dont play live i'm just really into a lot of effects different sounds and the talk box especially but have hardly seen this used with bass any info pix and sounds would be appreciated thanks in advance

Not a pretty sound. I'm sure I could find a use do it somewhere, but dang that sounds scary.

Bryan Beller used one on "My Beef Mailbox" from the Shampoo Horn album from Z. Unfortunately that would be all the info I have. There's a video on youtube with the song in it, but the actual video is kids acting stupid, but it's one way to hear it.

on a `slight` tangent, you can get a great "talking bass" type sound using Moogerfoogers: MF101 , MF102 & CP251
not really a talkbox , more of a "yeh yeh yeh yeh" effect (lol)
and a very expensive one at that !

I have a '70's era Dean Markley Talk Box 100 that occasionally gets used but most often for guitar or piccolo bass. Essentially a Talk Box is a horn driver driven by an amp hooked up to tube held in the mouth and sound is manipulated by opening and closing the mouth and making out words or vowel shapes. Peter Frampton, Joe Walsh "Rocky Mountain Way" is a great example, Zapp and many others used talk boxes to great effect.
If I were to get one today or another I'd look at the Rocktron Banshee self powered Talk Boxes.
