TalkBass App To Be REMOVED/DELETED [security concerns]

I'm sitting next to my wifi and it's been 2 minutes and static.talkbass.com still won't load.
I'm on an older 3g LG Google phone.
The talkbass.com isn't much better. I've just resigned that I can't really read talkbass anymore unless I'm home in front of my PC.
I discovered just yesterday that if I was logged in on my phone the site absolutely would not load on my PC. I had to log off on phone, then site loaded normally on PC. Maybe try logging off on your PC then try reload on your phone?

I gave not done the testing for you Paul. But I approached it this way. I have access to a Samsung s3
Samsung Note 3 (using it now)
A Google nexus 4
An iPhone 4.

Android versions
S3 and note running kit Kat
Nexus runs lollipop.
IPhone ios 7.

IPhone seems to be the smoothest overall with safari.

On the androids Firefox sux. Chrome is slow but smooth. Native browser rendering is fkakey.

My best experience is on my note running Cheetah software's CM security browser. ...
The difference is negligible between GSM and WIFI

hope this helps

It's too bad that the security concerns mean no app. I've used the TalkBass app for years on my iPhone. Now, without the app I can pull it up in my web browser but it's not the same. Without being logged in, I can't keep track of threads, can't save searches. So it's much harder now to stay plugged in to the community. Unfortunate.

Is there any reason why you can't log in / stay logged in?

Tried logging in using my iPhone, but it says I need to enable cookies. I set my security settings to 'Allow [cookies] from Current Website Only' but that didn't allow me to log in. How are other people configuring their iPhones to use TalkBass in Safari?

I have mine set to "Allow from Websites I Visit". I'm not sure why "current website only" would not allow you to log in, but only allowing from sites I visit seems ok.

This is interesting; When viewing in Safari on my iPhone 5 this site is a wonderland compared to other sites "mobile" versions, but when I log on via the PC (explorer & firefox) it's nothing but a battle to view and post. My cursor disappears at will, keyboard quits mid-sentence, it's to where unless I want to print a page I ONLY log in via iOS.

I suspect you have a local issue, I log onto the site via iOS, Windows XP, Windows 7, Mack OS lion, with various different browsers at home, at work and on the road and have never experienced the sketchy problems you describe.

Site works fine for me on any laptop or desktop i use no matter which browser. Unfortunately, Im on here WAAAAAAAAAY less now, because there are only a few days a week I have access to something other than a phone and with my phone I rarely stay on for more than a few minutes before i say "screw it". I miss you guys.

There is a positive side though, I havent been tempted by the classifieds in almost a month because its too much trouble to use. So Ive got more free cash!!! woo-hoo..

Im glad the mobile site is working well for you.

On desktop, you have the exact same odd curser/keyboard issues on both IE and Firefox? That definitely sounds like an issue with your pc then. What OS is your PC running?

Yah, the PC is a custom build the wife had done for her accounting business quite a while back, so it is antiquated, but it's not slow and TB is the only site I have these issues with. I thought it was a traffic density issue until I thought to dig the site up on iOS and it runs like a silk Stocking, whether I'm on wifi or LTE.

Hmm. Have you tried disabling the rich text editor in your preferences?

Not really following this thread so I don't know what's being discussed as of now, but wanted to mention that I got my first iPhone at the same time the app was discontinued.... and found myself much happier just going through safari. I don't miss the app a single bit, in fact even forgot that it no longer exists.
