I haven't seen a thread specifically dedicated to iOS and the new TB branded Tapatalk app. I'm talking bugs not things you wish were a certain way like the search function, for example. With that in mind, the intent of this thread is not to gripe but to inform. Much appreciation to the TB Admins/Mods for even dealing with the headache of providing a mobile app.

I'm running iOS 6.0.2 on an iPhone 5 with the last TB app installed, version 1.16.3 (yellow/blue color scheme).

1.) I am no longer able to tap the top of the screen within a thread to auto-scroll to the top. This function worked when the app was initially released but is gone with the most recent update. It still works when viewing threads but not when inside a thread.

2.) In Favorites (Topics tab), I've noticed that the app will often indicate that a new unread post exists when it updates. When I go to that tab to read the post, there are not any new posts in any of my subscribed topics. In other words, it alerts you that there is a new post in a subscribed thread when there is not. This has been intermittent.

3.) The disappearing PM option when viewing someone's profile. I know you can still PM from the Messages portion but this seems a little buggy with it disappearing like that.

4.) When viewing latest threads and you reach the bottom, you "pull up to load more". This typically results in it reloading about 3-5 threads that were already visible instead of all new threads but...it doesn't do this every time.

5.) Push notifications. I've never received them but honestly wasn't sure if we did receive them with this app. More of a question I guess. If we are supposed to get PN's, I don't receive them.

6.) I have "Loading Behavior" set to first unread yet when I read a brand new thread that I've never entered before, the app seems to randomly pick a post and forward me there rather than the first post of the thread.

After spending a little time with the latest release, it seems that 1,3 and 5 are still issues (although I have never received clarification that push notifications are part of the new app).

New:

The app now "hiccups" a lot. For example, while typing this on my phone the keyboard would frequently freeze and then catch back up with where I was typing. Frequently = every couple of seconds. Along with that, scrolling within threads or forums is choppy. It will stop (almost like it was going to freeze up and crash like it had been) and then resume scrolling.

The good thing is the app has not crashed on me since updating. But the typing freezing (like a latency effect if you've ever used remote connections) makes the app cumbersome to use for thread participation.

I did verify that the typing issue wasn't present in other apps including the native mail and messaging.

I'm using the TB update released today with iOS 6.1.

Still getting this. Except that when I check on my computer, the new post really DOES exist. So it seems like it's actually a message loading behaviour, where there's a lag between the time of posting, and when the new message is displayed.

Hoping for big things from the new update.

Me too. It sure beats crashing tho. Can't have everything, I guess.

I updated mine on the iPhone 4. But now the app crashes whenever I hit the forum icon. Pretty useless if I can't search by forum sub-category.

I started a support thread on the TapaTalk support site.

Specifically for 2 issues that bugged me the most.


#1 In-ability to send a PM from a form thread after clicking on a members profile or avatar.

#2 No ability to search from a specific area

For #2 the support guy Winter states: "For number 2, we realized your forum is running a rather dated version of vbulletin, and our plugin does not support advanced search. I recommend the forum to upgrade the software."

I'm not sure this is a viable option for TB.....

Anyway, I hope this helps everyone on the iOS apps (the ones I use).

SOOOoooo glad the yellow's gone. Still experiencing the typing lag on my iPad 2 though, and scrolling through threads is a little jumpy.

Laaaaagggggg! I've ended up going back to the standard Tapatalk app on my iPhone and it works much better. Still no PM'ing from a post, but everything else seems to work.

Still need identification for quotes on iPad. You can't tell who is being quoted.

Unless I'm missing something, you can only load 20 threads in the favorites (subscribed) section. I'm subscribed to this thread, but had to do a search to find it because I couldn't load enough threads.

That's because you're trying to load the old, no longer supported app. The current tapatalk talkbass app does not have that start up background - the old one did.

Should I delete the app and try to reload it, I'm screwed.

Looks like you need to update your OS. 6.1.3 is current.

Yes, you have to delete the old app and download the new one
and update your OS
