TalkBass-Con???

This is really funny.

The gathering in Seattle 2 years or so ago was very cool. (I missed this years.) It was nice to meet other bass players, and bass builders. I learned a thing or too. Like I want a fretless Marco bass.

I don't know if I would fly across the country to go to a gathering. But I like the idea of cage fighting between guys who will use a 4x10 with a 15, and those who won't. Several issues could be settled this way.

The Rickenbacker community did quite a few of these that were called Confluences. Some of them were pretty large and had people come to them from all around the world and an amazing range of instruments (well over 100 at some of these) from very early vintage to modern ones and custom pieces, too.

Here is a photo of some of the participants at one of these confluences. The USA, Canada, England, and Australia are represented here. :)

I don't know if there has been an inter/national convention but there are regional get-togethers (GTG) regularly. I have never been to one but I would like to go. I asked if anybody remembered any incidents from GTGs a while back but nothing ever terrible went down or, at least, nobody wants to talk about it.

There has been at least one international one near New York and way too many regional ones to count. I think I've probably met over 200 TB'ers face to face by now at various GTGs, and quite a few more if you count NAMM meet-ups. Incidents? One guy dinged his tail light leaving the garage after one, and some random guy dinged a string on my EUB the night before another one at a pre-party, which he paid for IIRC.

As far as insider humor and mocking of various and sundry TB'ers behind their backs, I know nothing...

BEWARE.........

This is a trap by all the drummers that were fired by bassists.

Their plan is to get us all together in one location and then destroy us all by playing "music" without any bass lines until we perish.

It's okay though, since its to be a synchronized attack, it's unlikely more than one or to will show up at a time so we can overpower them with our awesomeness.

That or playing something in 3/4 time.
