Talkbass Golfers Club!

Well, just up my post count:
Driver - Callaway Big Bertha bought at second hand shop
Irons - Callaway X-22's bought for cheap from Pop-in-law.
Putter - Odyssey Rossie 2 mallet
Fairway club - Perfect Spoon 15 degree.

30+ handicap. (And I now have the yips.)

Me and my trusty "True Temper" golf clubs get out once a year at my company's golf tournament. We just played Saturday where my teamates & I compared the size of my 1 wood with their modern clubs. Their sweet spot is bigger than my whole club. Eh, I spend my $$ on gear.

My dad's in the same boat but can still outdrive most of the people he plays with.

I play 2-3 times a year, rarely (if ever) practice, and consequently I'm at the stage where I can consistently break 100...
:rollno:
I just play every hole as a par 5 these days. I figure that if I hit my 'par,' I'll play 90 for the round.

I have some knock-off Taylor Made Burner irons (which I had made for me - I'm 6'4"). The rest of my bag was made up with cast offs from my golf-obsessed brother-in-law who went through a phase of "if I buy new clubs, I'll play better..."
Mizuno Driver, Nike Sumo 3-wood, Nike 3-hybrid, nice wedges (53, 58, 60)...

So I joined our corporate golf league where we get discounted rates for playing 9 holes after work on Monday... I'm consistently pretty bad, but am improving. Now, I have a handicap capable of being calculated. Unfortunately, it's 30+.

I picked up some new clubs with my bonus in March... nowadays in my bag I have:
Driver ... Late 90's Big Bertha 10 degree
3 Wood ... Top Flite XL 3 Wood (last piece remaining from my beginner set)
Irons ... TaylorMade Burner 2.0 4-AW Steel Shafts
Pitching Wedge ... TaylorMade RAC 56 degree
Putter ... Odyssey White Ice Tour Bronze #1 Putter

Any one of you ever psych yourself out of being able to hit a club?

I've convinced myself I can't hit my Callaways. I stuck my old Hogan H40 oversized set back in the bag last night. We'll see how it goes.

Big Yes. I can't hit my Taylor Made Tour Burner any more. I love my TM Burner 3 Wood, but the driver- not so much.

I even borrowed my buddies TM R9, which I like and inadvertandly backed over my golf bag last week and broke the shaft. Luckily it was just the shaft and not the head, but had to have it re-shafted and re-gripped :scowl:

Flying out to Mayacama, California (Santa Rosa) Friday to play some golf, hang out. Nervous to hack up the beautiful course. Wish I was a better golfer..... Fore! in advance :D
