If this is the image you are talking about, Optimus Prime, it's a cool image. Realize that it will probably have to be big in order to get any kind of detail. A small version of that would be selling the image short IMO.


I'm still not hot on your other ideas. I dig script tattoos,...I like ones that are entire poems or exerts of songs or passages from books that are meaningful to you. I guess "Whatever it Takes" is cool, just no stars,...unless you want 56 on you face. The autobots logo,....meh...just seems like an easy out to just get a tattoo (that a lot of other people will have). Bah, You are going to do what you want, so just go out and do it already.

That's what I'm getting first. It popped out at me. I really dig the picture. It's going on my back. Pretty big, not too big. Black and gray. I found a bigger version of it with more detail. Click the picture. Then it will show full detail.

Every time I think about getting a tattoo, I invariably run into some "rocker" with a whole bunch of tats that either look like complete **** or are completely hackneyed. How many goddamn Japanese flowers with fish sleeves can people get? Tribal armbands anyone? Maybe a chinese symbol on my back symbolizing "strength?" OR a spider web on my elbow? And then some flames going up my arm!

In the future, the tattoo-less will be in the minority and therefore more cool.

yeah, you won't get nearly as detailed as that even with it being shoulder to shoulder. there''s only so much they can do, plus since its longer from left to right instead of up and down you can't get it as big, unless you're ridiculously stocky lol

Yeah. I definitely planned on it being shoulder to shoulder. And I planned on losing a little bit of detail. I wish I could find a bigger version of the picture.

It's just badass. And all my friends I've talked to about it love the idea. Think it fits me perfectly.

in the end its all up to you. don't listen to what other people think. if you really want it who cares if other people think its stupid. luckily for me, everyone pretty much thinks everything i do is pretty stupid so getting tattoos is pretty easy.

Getting it done (or a deciding factor at least) because your friends love it is definitely the wrong option.
You probably won't even be friends with most of those people in a few years.
All I can say is very seriously think hard about if YOU want it. Not if it has to be accepted by an online forum, or your friends.
The fact that you were really not sure on the idea a couple days ago (and it was quite down the list), then after having friends say they love it you're jumping in the seat to get it done is not a good sign. I'd sit on it for at least 6 more months, preferably longer. The album only came out the other day, how can it mean THAT much to you?

methinks someone is easily swayed...and all the moreso by people who know they're not the ones getting it done, hence having no regrets later.

can you even tell me what that picture represents beyond a *semi* cool visual? Does it mean ANYTHING to you personally? Does it represent any personal ideals, beliefs, lifestyle, accomplishments...anything? if not, i think it's pretty dumb idea, sorry. Especially shoulder to shoulder across your back. Moreso as you get older and still have to live with it.

Of course, again, it's ultimately up to you. but I personally think it's ridiculous. Why don't you just get a head to toe tattoo of Tom Morello, as it appears it's the underlying theme here.

That was one of the ones I really want. One of the ones I knew I was going to get. That's why you guys haven't changed my mind on that one. The fact that a couple of my friends like it is cool, but for sure not the deciding factor. The other ones were the ones I wasn't sure about.

I just like the picture. Really like it. It's not about the band.

Just as important as the subject matter is the artist that actually tattoos you.

My only advice is to have someone who you have seen lots and lots of other tattoos they have done and those look excellent. Do not and I repeat DO NOT let someone who is "new" at it or "just got their equipment" to even attempt any tattoo on you.
I made that mistake when I was much younger. Luckily for me I was working toward a sleeve at the time and was able to have a great artist fix the horrible mess that guy left on my arm.
With that said,
If YOU like the artwork you picked out..... Get it. Just remember a large back piece of any real quality is going to cost you a lot of money.
Here are words to live by as far as tattoos go.......

"GOOD TATTOOS ARE NOT CHEAP.......CHEAP TATTOOS ARE NOT GOOD"
The reason good tattoos are not cheap is because it takes a lot of training and practice to be a really great tattoo artist. Once the artist becomes great they charge accordingly.

If someone is willing to tattoo you for dirt cheap they are not confident they will do an amazing job (never settle for less on YOUR body). I know there may be an odd chance that you may get lucky but it's truely not worth the risk of having a laughable, crappy, joke of a tattoo!

OK so you want that picture and no-one else swayed you. But, really think about if you want that tattoo on you in 20 years because you thought it was cool when you were 18. Your opinion on what is 'cool' or 'badass' is going to change significantly over the years, especially at your age. Do you want to be 40-50 and have a stereo with miniguns coming out of it on your back because over 20 years ago you thought it was cool? That's longer than you've been alive, think about that and how many times you've thought something was cool then changed your mind in your time already.

As I said, i'm all for tattoos and have spent a lot of time in studios. Whilst you see a lot of cool designs hanging out in shops, you also see a lot of work that is out of place because they got it when they were young, or they're getting coverups. With a piece that big and in black, it's going to be hard to ever cover it up properly.

If you are set on that design, great. My only advice is sit on it for at LEAST six months to a year. Print it off and pin it up on your wall so you can see it every day. If you're sick of it or change your mind after looking at it that long, no loss, if you still like it, then go for it.
