Tattoos

Every time I think about getting a tattoo, I invariably run into some "rocker" with a whole bunch of tats that either look like complete **** or are completely hackneyed. How many goddamn Japanese flowers with fish sleeves can people get? Tribal armbands anyone? Maybe a chinese symbol on my back symbolizing "strength?" OR a spider web on my elbow? And then some flames going up my arm!

yeah, the koi fish flower dragon crap is played out. what are you, a samurai? total joke. no creativity. save your money and buy one of those "im with stupid" shirts. heck, with the money you probably spent on that, you could buy a hundred of them.

if you have art skills, design your own. then you know its unique, and you can be proud of yourself if you really like it. if you dont, try to find a friend that does. if thats a no go, work with the artist.

as for the tribal tattoos, one of the funnier things ive seen was while walking past a couple dufus meat heads in the gym, both of which had nearly the exact same tribal thing in their back.

people should not be allowed to point at something on the wall of a tattoo shop and get it inked. that should just be illegal.

its my opinion in an ot forum. i stand by that 100%. debate it or have someone with ANY authority delete it. its not personal. its generalized.

if i offended anyone, i apologize, but if youve got the cash, time, and guts to get some giant piece, then you stand by it, and you like it, and it means something to you.

id never get one, but some people would never buy x brand bass or amp because of personal bias. people cr*p on that stuff all the time.

post your tattoo bro (warwick, that is).

I deleted my own post after thinking better of it, I was getting offended because I have an unfinished koi tattoo, but I let my cooler head prevail. I agree that it is to each his own, and debates based on opinion rarely go any where. Therefore we will have to agree to disagree on the subject of koi tattoos.

I am aware of the social ramifications as well as some of the symbolism, the connection to less than scrupulous groups of society. To me it's just a good looking tattoo. (I'll post it when it is finished).

I also submit that the "played out" aspect can be tied to anything that you or I might be into. It's getting to the point where you are hard pressed to come up with an original idea. Even if your idea isn't so original the least you could do is go with quality exectution.

The post by Gsmith was a pretty scathing and blatant troll, hence my don't feed the trolls. That's probably where my offensiveness started. So in the end, yeah,...no offense and sorry for the confusion.

Don't get a koi or tribal then. Problem solved.

Someone else has it? Who cares, it isn't your body.

no worries party peoples. tb is a place for friends, and im responsible for my fair share of feisty posts. living in santa cruz, i see so many garbage tattoos that i probably overreacted.

i think the correct statement is as such (and i believe this applies to the op as well):

if you think you have a cool tattoo, then you have a cool tattoo.

ps: i have way too much time on my hands before school starts up, so there will probably be more posts from me like those above, so i apologize in advance, and for my previous one. i get all snobby and elite because i design my own, but that makes them no better than anyone elses. that was a long ps: statement.

over and out.

Woa Dude, take it easy!

Here are a the only pics I could find of my Koi and my Dragon head and neck. You can only see part of the Koi. Some are alterations of stuff off the wall and some is free hand. My good luck tattoo (7's, Ace's, dice...) is an original art piece drawn by my brother Mike Martini, Owner of Square City Tattoo in Chardon Ohio. He did all the work you see here
And no I'm not a "Samurai" :D

hi there ive just stumbled across this forum and feel i should put my opinion in here, i know its an old one but just for others reading it like myself or incase anyone out there is still watching this one, firstly i had to buy my own car as soon as i could drive too but there were afew things i liked anyway, dont tie yourself up with credit at such a young age, i learnt the hard way myself, at that age commitment to paying it back is all well and good when you want something new but in reality once you have it you tend to push payments to the back of your mind and play around abit more as there is always something else you want next, if i could turn back time i would never have got my first loan, work hard save it then spend, secondly, i have built cars up all my life, it started with my first car, it was a mg metro turbo that i picked up for dirt cheap, they were quick little hot hatches that didnt cost much to insure, done. i then bought mini and got into that whole scene, and mg engine was the same as the mini, so in it went the turbo had to be emoved until i found someone who could cut some of the bulk head so i could reinstall it again, i have never looked back, i have also had two civics, ok they are lovely cars, my mum ended up driving one as she preferred it to her own, but it was one i didnt want to put too much into as they are worth nothing, if you generally mod a car like that it has to be done properly, and although your intentions may be good again now it wont last whilst everyone is out driving around and yours is jacked up being worked on, the money in is more than the money out will ever be, its worth more in parts broken up and ebayed, if you want to mod a car restore a classic, volkswagen, rods, muscle car, get yourself a cheap ass camaro, its cool because of what it is and if you put time and effort into it will be worth the end result, restoration is good, if you want to do a mod, then something like chip foose on over hauled is the best way to go about it, just be careful what you buy, infact the orginal bumble bee was a beetle vws are always going to hold value and a beetle is simple, i learnt to strip the car as i had no father figure around to help me, it was down to me to put it right this is where i learnt about cars and mods, and i still love it
next. i am a musician it was once my only income, so you could say i was a professional artist,so i can relate to how much people spend on equipment i play a gibson les paul through a marshall stack mainly but i also have a Prs and a warwick, i do own my own house, not a cheap one either, i just had it surveyed so i could see what the work i had done was worth so i know its not a hole. i have surfed my entire life ansnmy ambition at 18 was to finish college and go round the world and surf every destination i could, i have been across 4 continents now surfing, im not done but as im getting older i have to think about the future as i didnt see myself getting past 30 either, but im here!
i am now a tattooist, i have just finished uni which i was running along side tattooing, as it was an art based degree my employers were fairly supportive and am doing well, i still record as a session musician now and then but tattoing has been my passion for years, i am currently restoring a vw t25 in my spare time as its also a current daily driver its taking time, but i have a rebuilt subaru block here waiting to go in when i next have some holiday time, i rarely sleep i live on monster and relentless and i love my life, but in all aspects i support whatever you decide to do with yourself, yes the sssc cover will be difficult and expensive, and wont look as good as that, as an artist and tattooist i say no to it as there are just somethings that should be left alone to be admired in the full glory as it is, my ex GF has a bass clef on here back and its the only one she regrets, but that is just personal preference, the autobots i have seen done loads now but i honestly cant argue with it as i have it myself but mine is 9 years old,and i love it, i i was 21 before i made up my mind but then i was hooked, all my tattoos have there own story or eperience behind it and im covered with life reminders, and they have been done by artists the world over.
you have no idea some of the things people ask me to tattoo and you cant talk them out of it, all i can do is turn them away, i have rules!! but its only skin at the end of the day, the cars only metal, and life will eventually end, its what you have got out of it, what have you done, if you were to die tomorrow could you say your happy, ive lived a full life and only at 30 i still have so much more to do with myself but i could go smiling

take care and good luck whatever you choose
