Man, I would seriously frame some of these shots and hang 'em in our practice space...
Like drooft11's fretless, Adrian's white/pearl Nordy, some of FL Knifemaker's shots, Jim Carr's darthValenti, Bass Agent's Jazz.

Absolutely killer.

Hey, I know someone posted a link to BunnyBasses page on how to photograph/lighting.
Could someone please PM me that link???
Purdy please?!?!?!:D

So many basses and almost no Sadowskys...:rollno:

You there, Mike?! :smug:

Mike,

Lovely bass - do you mind me asking the story behind it? Why did people 'contribute' towards it etc. You have probably been asked several times so please feel free to point me towards a thread...

Cheers

This story has been told a lot around here, but I don't have any issues telling it again.

The short version (as not to go OT too much) is I became very sick almost two years ago (two years in March actually).

I had to selll EVERY piece of gear I owned with the exception of my old Jazz Bass. And I had some NICE gear- Fodera Matt Garrison 5 which I bought only 5 months prior, F Bass BNF5, Sadowsky MV4, BSX Allegro, Acoustic Image Focus 3, Epifani UL112's and the list goes on.
At the time, part of my income was from gigging. A good part actually.

Well, a good friend of mine (Mike Winnen- BigMikeW) was sitting in his church and his pastor handed out $100 dollars to everyone and said go do something "good" (I'm paraphrasing here) either donate it, buy some food for the local shelter or even pay a bill to ease a little stress.

Well, he was moved to help me. But the greater thing beyond the $100, was he contacted a lot of guys whom I've interacted with here on TB and a lot of guys that I met at some GTG's and I call friends. As well as some pretty heavy players in the industry (Nino Valenti, Don Oatman from LDS, Cary Nordstrand & Roger Sakowsky are a few) and they donated products & time.
And helped with some bills we had stacking up.

The bigger story is that, though there are some delays, a charity foundation is being set up called "Helping Musicians".
This was brought about by the big movement here and the thought was to take it to a higher level.

So thats it in a nut shell. Thats also why a lot of us call it the TalkBass Valenti. It was built out of the carring of a LOT of TB guys.
Sorry to derail this thread fellas.
Onto the basses!!!!

BTW the specs on it are:
Alder Body, flame/quilted maple top (from USCG)
Birdseye maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard (from USCG)
Custom Nordstrand J & MM pickups (MM in the exact position as a MM- with same switching as well)
Sadowsky pre-amp with VTC
HipShot hardware.

Dude, beautiful bass, but you have GOT to get rid of that funky stack knob... why is that one oddball like that?

Yeah, I know.
I need to call Sadowsky and get a stacked set.

Thats the way they came "back in the day".
My bass is a late 99/early 2000 one.
