Hey all,

I definitely want in on this one. Here are two photos of mine. I know one is "portrait" style, but I really dig it. When is the cutoff date? I'd definitely spend some time this coming weekend!

Best,
imp

Here they are:

i think lokire's stambaugh 6er and bryan tyler's fretless elrick singlecut would both get votes from me. 2 of the more distinguishable EB's on talkbass imo.

I think you mean the fretless 4 with the detuners, which I've unfortunately sold. Unfortunate in that it was an awesome bass, but it turned out I much prefer having a fifth string there.

I will submit my main and always loved (by me :D) Elrick singlecut fretted five-string- this is a pretty good shot of it. It's reduced size as well- I have the 5 megapixel version of it on my PC if needed:

I have a feeling this is going to turn ugly when the selections are chosen. :rollno:
There's no reason for that unless folks wanna' get petty about it, which hopefully they don't. I, for one, would not be offended if none of mine were chosen. That's not why I bought the basses. :) Plus, I'm just really enjoying the submissions! :)

If mine did not get selected, I'd still buy a calendar. It would look great on my office wall at work!

+1 I look forward to seeing a nicely made calender with quality bass pictures. I could care less if my bass was among them, but I would be honored if it was. With only 12 months, and seemingly an infinite number of killer basses, it is going to be a hard decision to make of what basses to choose.

Take a step back and think about this.

Most normal guys have swimsuit calenders and girls may have a firefighter calender or kittens or whatever.:smug:

We are going to be buying calenders depicting bass porn? My wife is right... we ARE geeks.:hiding::D

BTW, I type this as I look at my brand spanking new 2008 Fender Custom Shop Guitar calender;):D

I just hope this isn't 12 months of Fodera, Ritter, F, Elrick, Curbows, etc.:scowl::D

Great idea.

I imagine that for non-boutique/custom basses, I'd still want to see something very interested or rare. No reason to have a calender with pics of basses everyone sees every time they walk into any Guitar Center in the country :D

The last thing I need is a calendar for MIM Jazz and P Basses...not that there is anything wrong with those basses.:D

I was thinking of a 100% Geddy Jazz pics!!!!

January - Stock Geddy
Feb - Geddy with a Black Pickguard
March - Geddy with a Tort Pickguard
April - Geddy with untra light tuners
May - Geddy with a Hipshot D-tuner
June - Geddy with Schaller strap locks
July - Geddy with Basslines pickups
etc....
etc...
etc...

I bet that calender will be in the 75% off bin the first week of January!:D

Imagine spending all that money on a Conklin, but not investing $100 in a lawnmower :D ;)

I should talk- if I put my bass in my grass, I'd probably lose it forever.

There might be less infighting if everybody agreed on some categories and chose one bass for each. That way no one would complain that the calendar is all hippie-sandwiches or J-basses.

Off hand, some categories could be:

1. Best vintage Fender
2. Best vintage "other"
3. Best semi-hollow body electric
4. Best extended range bass (7 strings and up)
5. Best "USA" custom bass (i.e., hippie sandwich)
6. Best non-USA (European/Canuck, etc) custom bass
7. Best "modern" J-bass (Dowsky/Celinder/Nordy, etc)
8. Best upright (there IS another side to TB!)
9. Best electric upright
10. Wackiest bass
11. Maybe a "famous" (celebrity owned) bass.
12. Best Fodera (just kidding!!!!)

Perhaps there could be a thread on each category chosen for the submissions to be narrowed down.

Just thinking.
