TB page reload problems

I have a Macbook Pro & regardless of the browser I use,(Safari, Google Chrome), I quite often have a big problem refreshing a page ONLY on Talk Bass. It sometimes takes forever to load. This has been happening quite regularly for a long time. Anyone else have this happen? It's very annoying & sometimes I am forced to leave the forum for a time & try later.
Any help / insight is most appreciated. Thanks bros.

No security systems other than what Apple has in the Mac.
I used to dump cookies when using Safari & not sure it made a difference. With Chrome I haven't "tossed my cookies" :) but the problem clears up on its own after awhile. Would cookies still be a possible cause? I'll try it I guess & see but I don't think that's the problem. Thanks pal.

I mainly use a Mac Pro when I am on my desktop, no problems for me with Firefox...

Although, MOST of the time when I used Chrome, if I click a link, sometimes it takes for ever on any site before it starts loading a page, the process circle goes in reverse.

So yeah, I don't use chrome much at all, just Firefox.

Since my problem is only on the TB forum, & happens with Firefox as well, I wonder if my internet provider here has an issue with connecting to theTB forum at times. Is this a possibility in your opinion? I use cable plug in - not wireless.

I too have a Mac and I haven't had any issues. I use Firefox.
Google Chrome is terrible, imo.
I would check with your connections. There's a lot going on on TB.
After that I would check, as others have stated, what cookies, virus blockers, and pop-up blockers, you have.

Do you clear the cache & delete cookies a lot? What connections are you referring to? Don't use virus blockers on my mac. What does pop up blockers have to do with my problem?
Good point about lots going on here. Maybe that's why it's only a periodic problem. Thanks.

It should clear your cache and delete cookies when you log off. If you don't, it'll definitely slow you down.

I have my Mac set to clear the cache every day, and ask permissions for any cookies from sites I haven't been to.

You SHOULD use a virus blocker, because I have actually had a virus on this Mac and another I've had and it's an expensive piece of equipment to mess up. :P Also, may be why you're running slow.

Pop-up blockers, depending on their settings and what ones they actually are, can block new windows you try to open, or loading new windows, etc. You can try disabling your pop-up blocker, clearing your cache, deleting your browsing history,( or anything else that takes up space) and see if any of that help.

As far as "connections" go. I meant your actually wiring, router, and modem. Make sure all lights are wiring properly, all wires are attached firmly. Troubleshoot.

*Also, if you ARE going through a router, the connections can often be reset or you may not be getting s strong enough signal. With all of the refreshing pages and new threads being posted, ads, etc the amount of everything going on could be too much for your router to handle. You can buy a new router, or get a "wifi-extender", possibly..

That's a real consideration for sure.
BTW: I'm very impressed w/ your background in bass. Do you have any clips I could hear? My dad was a very accomplished violinist & I subscribed to the TSO for awhile.
I go to hear some upright Jazz players when I can. I really appreciate accomplished, studied bassists. I'm just a decent hacker. ;)

Thanks Mike. From what I could find it seems that the heavy volume of activity at peak times is probably the reason for slow loading (refreshing). I'll empty the cache & cookies more often as well I suppose. I wish I had more understanding of that stuff.

I am on some other recordings but not sure if they are online or where they are available.

The next time this happens, try the following:

On your macbook you'll have an app called "Network Utility". Open this and then select "Traceroute". In the address field, type "www.talkbass.com" and then copy/paste the output here and we'll see if it shows anything :)

Thanks Paul. I went through the process partway & stopped the trace just so I could give you a screen shot. Do I just paste it in a post here & if so what tags do I wrap it with?
