Well of the four options the guy was given by TB, he chose to get banned. So it is done. Certainly wasn't the ideal outcome, but I was happy to see action taken by TB.
I think what frustrates me most about this story is the sheer audacity of it. To use a car analogy (I love car analogies), imagine ordering a really cool classic 60's Camaro, and one of the selling points was the really cool original Crager wheels in all of the pictures. But when it arrives it has factory steel wheels. That is the spirit of what happened here.
And banning is nothing. I can create several accounts here in a couple of hours. The ONLY way to know it is me would be my communication style - and all of them being set up in the same time frame

A smart person may be able to create multiple accounts without having them tracked back. A smart person wouldn't have pulled such an obvious scam as seen in this thread.
I can't argue with that. I think there are two things at play. First, they rationalized what they did as "no big deal". Second, they didn't think anything would come of it.
Either way, scum bags will be scum bags. All that crap comes to them one way or the other

Thanks goodness, that is great to hear. I'm glad to see the mods actually took some action. It is a shame that Lag (the scammer linked in the previous thread) has been allowed to not only stay and operate in the classfieds but was able to change his name allowing him to further conceal his identity. Especially considering the fraud he perpetuated was far worse, at least in my opinion.
Time to out his screen name at least. Many people use the same name on different platforms (Ebay etc). It might possibly save someone else on other forums.
I would not care. I was permanently banned in 2011 from a site I'd been a member of since 1998. It was apparent the site owner was drunk and ticked at me when he banned me because he violated his own rules when he did it. i.e. there was no warning, I had never even had so much as a warning the entire time I'd been a member and he completely misunderstood what I was trying to say - to the point that other members had to explain it to him. But I called out a member that was, as it turns out, a good friend of his and, like I said, he got kind of emotional.
Meanwhile, I started a new id there and never looked back. Sure, some people would call me a newbie from time to time. I'd just tell them I was Robroy. The site owner knows who I am and lets sleeping dogs lie.
Bottom line is "reputation", for me, only matters regarding people I actually meet face to face or plan on doing business with. I'd start a fresh id here every year if I felt motivated to continue posting after getting banned. If I was ever banned.
I have to confess that it is kinda fun to "re" prove yourself.

If they IP banned him, and he usually logs in from a home internet connection, it can make for a slight hassle to come back. It can be done, but it requires some extra steps.
I tried it once. I ised to be a bit more of a hot head than I am now. I got temporarily banned a couple of times for name calling and just being a jerk. (I deserved it.) One of those times I tried to come back as a different user. They picked up on it and kicked that new user account out in about half a day.
That being said, these days I appreciate how clean this forum is kept. Try going to one that is a bit more "wild wild west" and you'll see why this works.

Yeah, I like that! Congrats OP, and good job on calling this guy out and getting him the banned.
I got ripped off in a TB trade and went after the guy here. I totally proved he knew what he was doing. My TB brethren were screaming for blood! But, alas, nothing happened. I can only hope that my ordeal had a little something to do with what appears to be a new stance on dealing with these crooks.

Forget screen name, I believe this kind of stuff warrants posting a persons full real name (OP must have it to have delivered to him - and if not then I lose any/all sympathy).
