tc electronic bh250 - new micro head!

Well, I finally got to let this thing loose and it did not disappoint. Even though our practice studios have an amp, I brought my 2 Aggie DB112 cabs (8 Ohm) and the BH250 head, and opened her up. WOW. I cannot believe the volume. With the gain disengaged, I was practicing easily and a good volume around 12:30 with a loud enough, gig worthy sound. With the gain ON, I couldn't really get past 1, and didn't really need to either... it was fine at about 11. I'm pretty sure this will be enough for most gigs, and Tone Print is surprisingly usable. With Spectra Comp and the super velvety smoothness of the DB112's, I had a ridiculous finger style tone, which is my forte. Very rich sound. I'm very, very impressed. I had a Hartke 3500 once, and it was powerful, but this feels about the same at 100 watts less. I'm pretty happy.

Just ordered a TC BH250 earlier today. Can't wait to get it and hook it up to my two Hartke XL210 cabinets. I'm anticipating an incredible sound and definitely better than my GK Backline head that is going in the closet. =)

anyone running Hartke cabs with this head?

Has anyone had any success in finding the new "Combined Toneprints" on an iPhone 4s? I keep looking and waiting but no luck. I have reinstalled the app and nothing. They are shown at the site for the BH250 but not on the phone that I can find yet.

Agreed! I have one on order and was a bit dissapointed after I downloaded the app. At least there is a chance that at some point one could become available.

Well, all of you looking for a more powerful version of the BH250 or looking for tone print level control for both 'slots' that the amp can hold at once can rejoice at the launch of the new BH550 and BH800 - got notice of them in my inbox today. $499 and $599 right now on Sweetwater's site...

I wonder how they are rated. I'm not trying to be negative, I just recall the issue with the real power of the other heads. Hell, I own a BH250, and I like it. These bigger ones could really be something

I'm sorry if this was already asked, but I can't find this info anywhere. What is this amp rated? I mean what is the power at 8/4 ohms? Does it go down to 2 ohms?

250 at 4 ohms. Can't do 2 ohms. I'm guessing the 8 ohms is down there around 150 or so. It does fine at 4 ohms, but seems a bit light with one 8 ohm cab, you do have to crank the main volume knob pretty darn far. But, that's to be expected. I've ran it into one BC212 cab all night long with the volume up about 3:00. I put the SpectraComp in the toneprint slot, and turning that up 1/4 way really, really adds some punch and welcome volume.

That said, I'll probably sell mine and grab a 550 or 800. I use my RH450 for gigs where I want to use my big cabs. But the 550/800 would also do that quite well.

One of the reasons I now use one or two Hartke 112 cabs is because I can go 8 ohm each, or on4 at 4 ohm to get that tiny bit more out of the BH250.

I wonder if I could somehow use this amp in tangent with my Genz Benz STM-900 to utilize the toneprint? I am considering picking one up used as a backup to keep in my gig bag.

I don't see how you could do that really. I mean, technically, you could using a loop of some kind.

On another note I just realized that this amp only has ONE output. How can I connect my (2) B210 avatar cabs to this amp to run at 4 ohms, when each cab only has one speakon connection?

You could to the loop thing, but you'd have to really pay attention to your gain settings and all that. You're putting a preamped signal back through another amp? I dunno, I've never tried anything like that. Regarding 2 cabs, you have to have cabs that have two speaker jacks on them so you can daisy chain the cabs. Out of the amp, into one cab, out of that same cab into the 2nd cab. Most every cab I've had in the last 10 years seems to have two terminals for this purpose. My older peaveys didn't though.

Yes, that's how it's done. I of course prefer both speakons, but it's all the same in the end.

Does the BH250 have some some sort of limiter function built in for when you plug in headphones? So that you can't blow them or at least try to prevent it?
