Double Bass TC Electronics 450 or 750 through 1x15 4ohm cab

Posted this on the other side as well (since its for both bass setups)...

Im using a single 15 Schroeder 4ohm cab and thinking about the TC 450 or TC 750. Anyone have any suggestions? Is this a bad idea running all that power through this single 4ohm speaker?
With the amp being so portable, the plan is to use it for many different setups down the road - but this one being the most lightweight and portable. Ill be using this for both Upright and Electric bass.

Go for the TC RH has no compression not as musically and 750 very many reviews indicate. It is a technique of TC that is very modern and the amp gives the wattages differently than "normal" amps which distort and go much earlier in the TC so not the error!
On their site is a pdf download that indicates how the technique is meant! go for it,

I used the rh750 through my 1x15 on a concert last weekend with a 7 piece band with horns doing all Wynton Marsalis septet music. I actually used a bunch of compression and got a very natural sound in that venue. The sound guy said I was getting the most natural bass sound hes heard in that room including John Clayton. Seems like the compression is very helpful feature on this with the upright in some rooms.

Fred -- I know English is not your first language, so I'm not picking on you, but I really don't know how to decipher this; did you use Google translator by any chance?

You appear to be saying that the RH-amps don't have compression (which, of course, they do, and well-implemented it is). The techniques used by TCE to increase the acoustic output despite the relatively low power have been around for some time (limiting and compression), but they are rather cunningly "baked-in" to the power amp section in a way apparently not done before.

I have to confess, I still haven't really made up my mind about this amp for DB. If I didn't have an alternative to hand, I'd probably spend more time trying to make it work, because it has some useful features. I still dig it for EUB and BG, though, so it's not going anywhere. Sounds like it's doing the business for you, JAS, I'm pleased to hear.
