Tc electronics thrust bq500

Ok, had a chance to fire it up a couple times. No lack of power here. Definitely enough volume for my gigs. Sound wise I need to find the sweet spot eq wise. I'm used to a scooped eq sound. I also need to try it out with a different cab. I used my Peavey Headliner 1x12 and the tweeter is extremely subtle almost non existent. May need to replace it with something better and with more presence. I like the amp though so far. Again, it seems well made and the knobs turn smoothly. Compressor is usable. I had it at noon and it kept my sound from peaking.

Compression is not volume degradation it is a reduction of dynamics . So volume could stay the same just less dynamics.
I get that. I only mentioned because it was mentioned previously that the 'Thrust' caused some volume degradation. I did not experience any loss of volume. Was also mentioned that the amp was not very loud. This amp is plenty loud.

Interesting. Today I played a used Thrust amp through a TC BC208 at the local music store.

It did not seem very loud at all. I turned it way up and twiddled the controls. Not a lot of volume or decent tone to my ears.

Couple of things: smallish cabinet, and way down by my knees.

I was mostly curious about the cab, and have been toying with getting a pair of them - if they can take a bit of power. But for some reason, this head didn't deliver.

I ended up selling mine. Couldn't get any highs out of it.
This was not my experience; mine works just as one would expect, including HF performance. In addition to that, I tested the frequency response of mine with a spectrum analyzer and found it was flat out to at least 16KHz, and that the HF EQ shelving point was about 10KHz, just as the manufacturer spec'ed.

As to it not being loud enough -- mine will easily drive my TC 208 cab to a level much louder than it's capable of withstanding.

I just got one of these and am very impressed with it. It's seems as loud as other 500 watt amps I've used. As for the highs, they're not boosted like a GK but they're there. I remember the bassgear magazine review showing GK's baked in frequency scoop extending the lows and highs. I could see a GK user thinking this amp was too warm. Other amps I've used, Aguilar, Ampeg even the Acoustic Image amps, although they sound different, have highs in the ballpark of the BQ500. I wouldn't call it a dark amp that lacks highs.

Maybe I got a dud. Minimal response from the treble knob. Was no lack of power though. Was plenty loud. I really wanted to like it especially what you got for the price but alas........
