Teacher got mad at me last week.

You have to learn everything in order to be a complete musician.

* Learning to read notes is important (you have to learn to read ahead, and interpolate, and recover).
* Learning to play from chords is important (remembering that the chords are B E A /).
* Learning to play from song structure is important (understanding that the chords are II IV V /).
* Memorizing chord structure and song structure is important.
* Learning to hear that the guitarist just decided to do an extra chorus in his solo is important.
* Learning to hear that you just knocked your E string and it's gone flat is important.
* Learning to pack everything you need for the gig is important.

But most important is finding a teacher that inspires and motivates you and works with your style.
