It's hard to tell for sure without the manual for THAT model. I don't have a manual specifically for the AH250SMX or just the preamp (which I would think had no speaker outs).
Your "amp" says 8 ohm at each output but doesn't mention 4 ohms single output. That's why I said better safe than sorry until you find a manual or call Gibson/Trace Elliot Tech Support and ask. Peavey probably won't know as their product is too new.
According to all the manuals I do have, the "Tuner OUT" can be used as a "line out", as well. so, Not sure why one was added....

My GP7 SM says 2 ohms under both A and B channels and are marked as such on the back.

mine says 2 ohms his says 8 ohms... if he can run 2 8 ohm cabs for a 4 ohm load on one output - then by that line of thinking - can I run two 2 ohm cabs on one output?

Hi...

I'm looking for an "oldschool" sounding 2x15. How does the 1528 do standalone oldschool sounds? Not to heavy, easy to obtain in Europe, ... So, on that account it seems an easy choice, but I heard some word about it being more of a LF cab to add low end to other cabs.

ASk SMPerry, he has one for sale - 1528 or 1524 8 ohm or 4 ohm respectively...

Shipping from USA not so easy

He has one channel two parallel outs@ 8 ohms apiece, you have two channels, each with one out @ 2 ohms. Not rocket science to figure that one out. If yours had dual outs per channel they'd be labeled 4 ohms apiece. Rare monster that it is. You wouldn't be overly shy to plug a single hypothetical 2 ohm cab in there either.

Anyone got a preamp only unit with a great big toroid transformer in it to provide the couple or 10 watts at 15V? :eyebrow:

Ah.. Seeee... Now I see where you made your mistake... per your PM... :D

The main body of his post was about an opinion on "How does the 1528 do standalone oldschool sounds? Not to heavy, easy to obtain in Europe, ... So, on that account it seems an easy choice, but I heard some word about it being more of a LF cab to add low end to other cabs.
You assumed I meant he could buy SMPerry's cab. But , no, not what I meant. His cab needs a new driver on the bottom, it has a buzz in it. :( Too bad, I would be interested in buying it.

I said to "ask forum moderator SMPerry, he has one for sale." meaning he owns one and would have an opinion to share about how it sounds.
Being in Europe is irrelevant if you can afford shipping. If one of mine were for sale, I would have no problem shipping it to him. True, I don't know how big a problem it is to ship around New Zealand but, Shipping from here to Europe is not a problem.

I already knew the answer to my rhetorical question about plugging two 2 ohm cabs into my amp... I have the manual. I have manuals for several models....
Not saying you were wrong but, if my machine says I can do "blah blah blah" and someone tells me I can do "blab blab blab" is fine unless that damages my machine. Then I'd be looking at whoever told me I could, to fix it or have it fixed since that person said "Relax, it's all good. go ahead."
I am, however, advising Schlyder to do his due diligence and contact TE Tech Support to be sure. To do less would a disservice to a fellow bassist who at least had the forethought to ask instead of just doing it and frying his amp. Which would be a crying shame.

As is evidenced by my "rare beast" running at 2 ohms. ... not all TE machines are the same.
Yes, generally speaking, they will run at 4 ohms. Mine will run at 2 so, it would stand to reason that some may only run at 8 ohms, too. Especially since it is marked 8 ohms and says nothing about 4 ohms using ONE output channel only.

Yes, since mine SAYS 2 ohms, I wouldn't be shy about plugging a 2 ohm cab (or set to make 2 ohms) into either output.
but if it said 8 ohms at each output, I would not be plugging a 4 ohm load into either one.

If it were me asking for advice, I'd still call TS and ask a tech that KNOWS how to repair it as he would KNOW the correct answer by the design specs. ;)

I have a couple of questions. Do you think an AH250 GP11 is powerful enough to drive an Accugroove El Whapo?
I also have an RAH100 GP7 I want to put in a rack and just use the pre-amp along with a Crown XLS 1500 power amp. There is a lot of noise and the volume is up and down out of the gain control and input jack. Do you think that this could be a DIY repair or should I just send it to British Audio? I paid $250 for it and with repairing it and shipping
it would be almost what I paid for it. Fix it or cut your losses? Thanks.

What kinds of noise are you getting? Scratchiness can be DIY fix with electronics spray contact cleaner/lube from Radio Shack. - Follow the directions.

Is the erratic volume random and on it's own (like a ghost) or when you are switching in/out of EQ settings? If it's volume changes when switching in/out of EQ, adjust the EQ blend level. Try using the Line Out or effects loop send instead.

Yes the erratic volume change is on its own. When the volume increases, the hiss decreases. I can duplicate the problem by wiggling on the 1/4 in. jack or by wiggling on the gain pot. The instrument and speaker cables are good.

OK. That tells me the gain pot is dirty inside and the resistance fluctuates causing volume changes. The better the connection internally, the more volume you get and less hiss.
Same with the input jack connection but may just be a worn out jack not keeping a tight contact on the plug - causing a signal flux from a bad connection. Mine does that if I wiggle the plug, too, but not enough to worry about yet.
I would start with the contact cleaner/lube on the pot and input jack to get rid of any corrosion build up. it happens just like the inside of a distributor cap on a car. See if that clears it up.

I'm no Mr Fixit.

Will the amp drive the cab? Not familiar with El Wapo. It was being touted on the banner adverts the other day wasn't it? 4 ohm iirc. If it takes 500W peaks without needing the low end EQ'd down I'd be surprised, so the answer is yes, the amp should drive it really well. Whatever the colour of the El Whapo you have plenty of EQ.

Personally, I'd rather have two 8 ohm cabs stacked so I get a good earful for myself.
