Well, looks like I might be returning to the tecamp family. Trying a Bonafide with my Glasstone Lil G 212 and this setup smokes! I like the options I have with both. I really like how the Bonafide controls my P bass. With my other amp, it has a big mid presence with growl. Its too much for my taste. Plus my J's comes off well too.

I'd stay away from the bf. The puma500 or 900 should be perfect if you want clean tone

@kjung...why stay away from bf?

You are paying a LOT money primarily for true stereo operation which few would use. And, if you bridge it at 4ohms, you get into the whole 'running each of the two power amps at 2ohms in a small box', which has caused some heat shut downs with this amp and other issues.

The Puma500/900 are smaller, less expensive, and give you that TecAmp tone at a fraction of the price of the Bonafide. The 900 will just SLAM with two 8ohm cabs or a large 4ohm cab. For two 8ohm 112's, the Puma500 should drive them to full output at about half the cost of the Bonafide. If you want to get more headroom and power than you could ever use, the Puma900 is just a few hundred more.

FWIW I have not had my TecAmp Black Jag"s master volume past 9:00. Again, last saturday night I played for a wedding, and it was a 4 hour gig. Once again, the amp never got hot.

+1 If you don't need true stereo operation like the Bonafide, but like the extra bells and whistles, and/or have need for '2ohm' operation, the Jag is the thing!

For those who just want great TecAmp tone and run at 8ohms or 4ohms, the Puma500/900 are the best 'bang for the buck'.

To me, it seems like my TH500, in 4 ohm, is just as loud as the Bonafide bridged in 4 ohm. Just doing some comparison at home yesterday evening. But I like the smoothness of the tecamp and loudness of the TH500. In order to keep one, the other has to go. Right now, think I'm going to pass on the Bonafide and check out a 900.

That is due (IMO) to three things. First, the TH500 is a VERY loud 500 watts. Second, I believe the Bonafide still uses the wider, deeper voicing of the original Puma line, and that voicing (super deep bass, clean, relaxed midrange) really sucks up the power. And, finally, the deep low end of the Bonafide, combined with the relaxed mids, will really drive most cabs to their mechanical limits before some other heads like the TH500.

So, doesn't surprise me that the Bonafide would sound VERY different (deeper, smoother, cleaner, sizzlier) than the TH500, but not 'louder'.

The Puma500/900 are voiced a bit tighter and have more harmonic complexity in the mids than the Bonafide (and the older two space Puma's). GREAT sounding heads. The 500 would put out about the same volume as the TH500. The 900 would of course, be massive sounding, but only if you have a cab or cabs that can actually use the additional power.

Hey man, how do you like your Lil G? I've been singing the praises and will be one of the last to get one :-). I really want to get one to run with my Puma500. Can't wait.

TecAmp has changed several lines speakers with ceramics units due to problems to obtain neodimium . And the new fabric grille is cool. I think my new s212 it will be at home (with changes) in 10 days. I will try to write a short review
