If they were to take the FlyRig v1, ditch the octafuzz, replace it with a real fuzz and give it BDDI style routing I’d buy it.

I find that to get a decent octave effect - Mix at 12 o'clock and the Q and Range knobs are all the way off.
That and lowering the signal gain by lowering the Compressor level really gets me back into OC-2 territory.
Of course, everyone's gear is different as is everyone's sound that they're aiming for.
I'm just saying what works for me. This is also using passive Fender basses - Precision with EB flats and Jazz bass V with Sunbeams.

I think the Octafilter gets a lot of bad press, but for what they intended, it actually works pretty well with some knob tweaking.
It’s not so great for fast 16th note runs, but it cops synthy tones pretty well.
Its even better as just a filter with dirt from the Sansamp. With a Boss Oc-2 in front of the fly rig, it sounds pretty awesome.
I’ve also been comparing and pairing the Fly Rig with a Zoom B3. I prefer the dirt tones in the Fly Rig, but the B3 has a ton of effects that work well in front. I had found the 3 effects limit of the B3 a little meager at times, especially when using compression, dirt/preamp. That setup left only one slot for modulation or time based effects. With the Fly Rig, I can use the B3 mostly for modulation , filters, delay, or even additional distortion or fuzz and octave. I thought they’d be redundant, but it looks like they can be pretty complimentary.
cut the q down and use range as a tone and just hit the fuzz circuit quite a powerful and controllable fuzz.
Found the sweet spot on mine, I use Fuzz-Octave with or without the Q, covers all my (basic ) needs for syhthy tones (about 3 or 4 songs overall). However, did not fine yet a suitable setting for auto-wah alone.
It’s mediocre, at best.
I personally do not agree, naturally a dedicated fuzz pedal can do more, but you can do quite a lot and I find the fuzz very useful. whats wrong with it in your opinion?
I last used it a couple years ago, and at the time I remember thinking it sounded like crap, but sounding like crap worked for that particular song so I went with it.
at that point with the q up, the range acts acts like a band-with picker, you can go really suby to like really nazely to in between and get some really crazy funky sounds of it, that nob is very sensitive so play with it the range control just make sure that q is up.for the envelope filter to use, put the q up and play with the range...
try playing with the range and q controls especially the range, lower the q entirely and then use the range as a tone for the fuzz. you may be pleasantly surprised.
I have. It’s just not good. Regardless of how many times you bump my posts it’s not going to get any better. It’s not like turning knobs is particularly insightful, they’re right their on the front just waiting to be turned, problem is they don’t actually make it sound good, just marginally less terrible.
What the octafilter excels at is the quasi-Moog thing. My complaint is that it’s not really good at anything else. IMO, it’s a whole section the pedal that’s dedicated to a sound that not a lot of bassists will ever use. I’d rather they replace it with something that’s more useful/less gimmicky.
YMMV.

I'm not much into the Fuzz or Octave but if somebody could provide a single funky filter setting, I'd be a happy camper. I'm really not very good at this sort of thing.
