It's been a long stretch of impulsive gathering due to gas, but my first pedal (which I actually researched before buying back in the day), is still in regular use on a gig board. Love my paradriver.

I have always had my eye on a Q-Strip (one sold last week). And how about the air turn, do you use it with an Android?

I love the Q-Strip. It's been on every board I've used since I got it several years ago, even used with guitar and keys.
I use the air turn with an Apple iPad.
OK, I just finished dialing in my new to me, old BDDI to my liking, and did a little recording using one of the last bass-less tracks I had on hand.

While the differences are fairly obvious, I was surprised by a few things - first off, it seems I liked the BDDI with a little less drive, at least in a way. Second, I was surprised by some of their similarities, but I guess given that I dialed the BDDI in by ear, my personal tastes, or at least what I'm used to came into play.
Just for fun after I was done, I hooked up each preamp for some frequency analysis, and this is what I found. Take this with a grain of salt, as it doesn't tell the whole story of course, but the curves are fairly similar, aside from that mid-notch that the BDDI is so famous for.
I wasn't expecting for the BDDI to have an earlier low-end roll off, but I think you can hear it in the clips above.

The BDDI was a favorite of mine for literally decades! First got it back in the early 90's. The mid notch was usually a good thing, perhaps because I prefer mid-forward basses and amp rigs, but if it was too much then I would simply dial in dry signal via Blend. The Presence knob delivered a nice aggressive edge for rock.
I'm kind of sad that I no longer own a BDDI, but my other Tech 21 pedals stay in rotation: DP-3X, SH-1, Oxford, and Leeds. What can I say, my ears are fickle... can't stick with just one.

Those sounds are awesome and great recordings

I'm a big fan of the paradriver. I do like being able to sweep the mids. Ivd had mine for 3 years or so as my main preamp on my board and really like it.
I'm still using the BDDI v.1 as a preamp into the power amp of my combos. Sounds just fine to these tin ears. Although, I do have one problem with it. Since I run the Presence at zero, and have for years, I tried turning it up and the sound from the BDDI cuts off right about 12:00 I figured the pot got all gritchy inside, but moving it a bunch didn't seem to clear it up.
It's most likely the pot has gone bad. If you want to have us a repair it, please contact our support department.
Could someone please tell me about this steel plate on the back of my programmable BDDI. It say "quick release" in script and I'm wondering if it is stock or an aftermarket add on. I bought it used and the seller did not mention it.

Hi folks, wondering if anyone has any insight on this... I've been a BDDI user for years and love it. I recently picked up a YYZ off craigslist out of curiosity. I got it home and no output except for static-y growling coming out of the amp. I used a cable tester through the YYZ and a known-good pedal and see the attached (same cables, die-five shape is good pedal, die-six shape is what we see from the YYZ). I've got an email in to SansAmp to see what they think, obviously not a warranty fix but maybe they can resurrect it if it isn't user-fixable. Also don't buy pedals off craigslist unless you see a test 
Glad that worked out for. Just wanted to say that's my fave piece of Bellwanger gear ever, even better than the Superfuzz clone.
