I have only ever played my VTDI, BDDI and the YYZ. Didn't like the BDDI, just not my taste. The VTDI saved my a$$ a few times when I needed to play with a band, but had no amp. I loved the sound I got through the PA, but I hate to dial it in for overdriven sounds. It has this inherent harshness which needs to be dialed out somehow. The bite knob is practically useless if you use the pedal as an overdrive imo. But after more than a year on regular usage I got to know how to get it to work (the EQ can be a little tricky). Won't sell that one. The YYZ I played recently surprised me in a positive way. Did buy a darkglass pedal, but the sound of the YYZ still creeps around in my head.

Owned the RPM, Original VT Bass, VT Bass Deluxe, I have an American Sound (Blonde), and I have a YYZ on the way.
I loved the RPM (rack version of the Para Driver) The loved of this rack is what has inspired me to get the YYZ, I have great hopes for this pedal both clean and dirty!
The one I'd keep is the VT Bass Deluxe. 6 presets of clean and dirty for multiple basses. Love it. It can easily driver a Powered Amp, powered speaker etc. Can't believe they discontinued it. Hoping they'll do a programmable version of the YYZ!

That was my understanding (...I have one). I'm curious as to whether the "Bite" on this one also introduces the subsonic filter.

I don't think bite really engages a significant sub sonic filter on any version honestly.
Maybe at one point in development it was supposed to, but testing my VTDI, the bite introduced low-end roll-off difference is pretty much negligible.

I've looked at it from a frequency analysis standpoint, and have pictures floating around somewhere....
The thing does have a low-end roll off in general, just not really modified significantly by bite.
That's a bunch of quality Tech 21 pedals! Care to expand on why the YYZ stole a march on the rest for you?

I think I mentioned it before in this thread, but my favorite is still the dUg (DP-3X).
Here are the ones I currently own:
Previously owned: SABDDI (the one that started it all for me, decades ago), RBI, RPM, VT-RM, VT Deluxe, and YYZ.
I've really liked all of them. When I was rack-rigging I ran a pair of the rackmounts (usually RBI/RPM, but any combo worked) in parallel. I used a special wiring config not found in the manuals.
I switched over to pedals, and while I'll happily use any of the above, the DP-3X works especially well with my P-style basses. I love going for a heavy ClangTone, but can still dial in a warmer vintage growl simply by rolling back the passive tone control on my bass.

I think the low end change is more of a slight tightening in a sealed cab voicing sort of way and not nearly as aggressive as a the typical HPF we see in the newer bass heads.Found it in this very thread

Honestly, I see no change whatsoever attributed to bite on its own.

I recall when you posted those graphs and I think we all commented at the time that the reduction literally seemed to be in the noise and nothing dramatic.

The Harris sig is also really great: a close second to the dUg for me. It will probably appeal to more users than the dUg because it doesn't have that inherent mid scoop, is a bit easier to use, and the dual channels work more effectively than the dUg's IMHO.

I have 4 sansamps: BD, BDP, BDD, and a rack RBI. If I had to choose one, then I would choose the Bass Driver Deluxe. I like having multiple sounds that I can switch between and the effects loop is perfect for compression. My settings are clean with a compressor in the FX loop on FS1, slight overdrive on FS2, and heavy overdrive on FS3. The OD already compresses my signal, so I lose too much life and dynamics when I run through an OD and compression. I love that I can stomp on one button to change between my clean with a compressor and another button for a OD without a compressor. My whole set up is based on this system.
The Bite switch's subsonic filter may not be obviously apparent because of the low end roll off in a given speaker cab. The presence boost should be easy to hear.
