Tech 21 pedals - if you could have only one?

Thanks guys. @BrentSimons that is going through my 1001RB as well, though it's basically just so that I can use the extra little bit of low-end roll-off from 4-string mode. The GK EQ section was set to scoped flat, with boost barely up from off. Between the VTDI and 1001RB I'd attribute probably 99% of the tone shaping to the VTDI. :thumbsup:

I have to second Kro's results as I find my BDDI V2 or VT Bass V2 in front of a GK (RB or even more so an MB) with the EQ running close to "scoped flat" settings is everything I could want tone-wise plus I get the GK head quickness and power. In fact I ran my BDDI V2 in front of a friend's MB500 and Hartke cab set-up at a gig last night (he saved me carrying my rig) and it sounded great.

I've had a MB500 for close to 10 years now. This is my first time reading about this EQ setup on the GK head. Mind explaining? Would love to test this it with my VTDI.

I've used words like natural and organic in an attempt to describe it in its past, but they don't really do a good enough job. Regardless, something about it just makes bass sit in the mix really for my preference.

We're still tweaking this one, but you get the idea. ;)

Gotcha, I attached it here now. :thumbsup: As I mentioned, it still needs a little work. Kick probably has a bit too much boom, and I think the entire bass track may have been accidentally nudged forward a hair. All things that we're currently addressing. :thumbsup:

Well THAT worked! Sounds terrific Kro, and i'm well aware of how bass tracks can inexplicably rise a few dbs in the mix during meal breaks and the like. One of the mysteries of the ages.

Sure thing. The first clip below is the fully isolated track, then immediately below it is the drum and bass version that was originally posted over in the Tech 21 Club.

Warning, this is the full bass track, and it's a bit of a slow burn - things liven up around the 0:40 mark.

These were the settings that I used, dialed-in for my relatively hot precision strung with Chromes.

Curve looks a little like this, green without any GK influence, and blue with the GK in 4-string mode.

Aside: really interesting how the context of the drum line makes so much more musical sense than a purely isolated bass line; but really good to have both clips side by side - cheers!

Yup, in essence, that setting will more or less remove the GK EQ section flavoring, which on its own with knobs at noon has good scoop to it.

It's pretty much the same as going in directly through the amp's "return", though it retains the ability to make use of the GK EQ section if needed to quickly address room or stage needs. :thumbsup:
