There's a lot of great advice here but the thing I like about JimmyM is his total enthusiasm and willingness to try and give honest opinions about new and different products without any apparent predetermined bias.

If JimmyM turns out to be like the video store guy "Vincent" that was recommending videos to Elaine in "Seinfeld" I'm gonna feel pretty stupid....

If I owned a whole lot of real SVT gear like Jimmy I'd probably be very closed minded toward tube emuation pedals and mini heads.
I speak to so many more experienced bass players here in Oz that basically have an SVT-CL or 800RB and tell me that I'm stupid to buy anything else.

I really enjoy handing them my LM2 head with one hand whilst saying "500 watts". Hopefully the VT will live up to my expectations and I'll be able to follow that up with "toooobes......yeaaaaahhh..."

I think my VT Bass arrives here at the Bass Centre in Australia this week.

Yeeeaaahhhh.

I highly regard his opinion. Which is weird cause I know nothing of the man. But he has given some great advice. So do it! Check it out! I am a believer in this pedal as well. And I'm not even a pedal guy
Well I have opened for Air Supply before, so my opinion -should- be highly regarded ;) Not really, but thanks just the same. I do, however, own a few old Ampeg amps, so I was able to do a lot of ABing with the VT.

just gotta post some love for this. i've been playing it through my guitar/practice amp (a vox ad15vt-xl) and it makes it sound like a bass amp! which is awesome.

i finally got to play it through my own rig for a few hours...man...i'm still amazed. i really dig the amount of tones you can get out of it, but I'm really digging the modern rock sounds out of it. i love the old school vibe it can throw out too, but i'm really loving this setting through the mix channel on my rig (which is admittedly set up in an unusual way)-

volume- as needed
bass- 2 o clock
mid - 1 o clock
high - 10 o clock
character - 3 o clock
drive - 11 o clock

man...it really is like having some of the sounds of about 3 different all tube amps at my feet.

that said there are still a few things that i'm not as in love with. i don't think the full-on drive sounds as good as the light-medium gain settings. it adds a tiny bit of hiss to the signal too. My English Muff'n pedal kind of dies when i run it through the VT bass - it sounds interesting but not as much "drunk wasp shotgun" as i had hoped. but these are pretty minor issues- i've got to say i'm really digging this pedal and it will have a place with me for a long time.
