I use the VT pedal as psrt of my pedal board. I run 4 different effects parallel. For a Dirty sound I use the line 6 bass pod, and the Marshall Guvnor. For a really clean sound I use the MXR bass di+. I use the VT bass pedal for a warm SVT like tume amp sound. I add a little drive to it but I don't use it as a distortion pedal.

The settings you see in the picture are not necessarily the settings that I use ... I photographed it after unpacking the board and some settings changed.

First clip each section is my Spector clean (through the whole effects chain) and the second is with the VT Bass active. 46 & 2 clip with BF-2 Flanger. BR2 Autowah near the end, and the last little bit is with both the Turbo RAT and VT Bass on. Nasssssssty!

WHAT is that bass line played with a flanger? anyone knows? it really tripped me out. i think i have heard it before. is it a known song? which one? :help:me

edit: got my answer!:)

Has anyone here A/Bed the Bass VT sample settings and the real deals (B-15, SVT, etc.)?

I found another nice settling, one that sound similar to a nice hybrid amp:

Level - noon
Mid - noon
Character - 11
Drive - 9
Low - 11
High - 10

I seem to be one of the few who prefers the SA Bassdriver to the VT Bass.
I got mine a couple of days ago and I am trying hard to get a punchy, neither harsh nor scooped pick sound with the VT Bass. This has never been an issue with the Bassdriver.
Even further, I never experienced excessive mid scoop with the Bassdriver.
So I'll probably sell mine.
(Btw. the same goes for my just aquired Fulltone Bass-drive)

Any of you guys have an 8 or 12 string bass? The Tech 21 site mentions King's X as one of the sounds you can achieve with the VT bass pedal. I have a 12-string and I've experimented trying to get close to Dug Pinnick's sound and I haven't even come close. Any of you tried to duplicate his sound yet?

I'll say this for the digital community...every year, modeling seems to improve. I'm still not buying it for tube sounds, but it is getting better. I used to think it would be impossible for SS and digital to mimic tube amps completely, but now I think it is and it's not far off, like maybe in 5 years. So I'm probably not going to get a VT. But if they ever come out with a pedal for $150 that sounds just like a Reddi, then I'll reconsider.
I reconsidered. I mean, it doesn't exactly breathe like an SVT, but it doggone sure sounds like one when you record it!

Someone was asking about clean sounds with the VT. Judge for yourself. Here's an SVT vs. VT thread I just posted:

I haven't done it yet, but even though I haven't tried to AB distorted SVT or B-15 sounds with the VT, I'm not especially thrilled with it as a distortion device. What I AM really thrilled about is that it can mimic that thing with a tube amp where you have it up just a little too loud and it gets a little crunchy when you dig in.

Man, I'm so mad...I'm glad we're moving soon. Every time I want to do something different and record it I have to track down ground loops and hums. And now with this storm hitting us for the last 2 days, I don't even want to do anything.

But I had to try out the VT with distortion. So I set up my B-15N with my identical Fliptops B-15 cab, used the B-15N head vs. the Markbass head with the VT hooked in line, then I tried to mimic the distortions. Nailed it within two minutes. Completely identical in every way.

So if I wasn't sold on the distortion in the VT before, I am now. As a tube amp user and lover for over 30 years, I have to say that this does a great job. The one critical piece of the puzzle still missing is the touch responsiveness of a tube amp that makes it breathe with your playing.
