Tech 21 VT Bass

I tried to hook my sansamp directly to power amp of my combo. Was a bit disappointed as it cut the volume too much. But it did cut out a lot of noise. And it did sound great. I'm wondering if the VT bass will do the same. I guess I will find out when It comes in.

What settings is everyone using on this? I've found the suggested ones that come with it are not that great, especially the SVT (too scooped, not punchy enough) and and Rage (harsh and brittle) ones. The Fat Tube and Fliptop are an ok base, but both needed to be dialed back some.

I've also found I need to keep the level way down (under 9 o'clock) to stay similar to the bypassed level.

I fully agree with you. All suggested settings needed a little tweaking to match identically. However, they'll get you in the ballpark.

Just got mine delivered today. I snuck away from the desk to make sure it worked. Very addictive pedal! Still have to sit with it a bit to get all that it can do, but for starts I hooked it up to my Peavey DPC750 poweramp which was connected to my SWR Henry 8x8. First off, plenty of gain to drive the poweramp. Second, there is a ton of sounds in this little box. Can't wait to really give a work over later.

Hi,

Can anyone confirm that the VT pedal
can power a power amp directly?

I've ran it directly bass>VT>amp effects return -- sounds great.

Manual sez:
"The 1/4" output of the Character pedal has enough juice to drive a standard power amplifier. Simply connect the 1/4" output to a power amp input and adjust the Level control accordingly."

That means YES.

is anyone using one of these just for tube fatness with no overdrive at all?

I'm currently using a RBI but as well all know once you start cranking that blend knob it starts sucking the mids......was thinking about adding one of these between my bass and RBI or maybe just taking out the RBI completely.

Also wondering how big the pedal is since there aren't any dimensions listed?

Thanks!
