I've corrected that problem in a neck-thru Carvin pretty easily, so I think the bolt-on one would be even easier. I'd say your true best bet is to get that fixed. That at least allows for the OPTION to try BEAD and also have ability to use it how it was.
And while I might have missed it being posted, BEAD would need the nut slots widened OR a new nut made.
