Just a wild guess....but as it goes on we'll find out that the "Sixers" are actually the good guys while the gray-haired terra Nova leader dude will morph into the same character that that actor played in Avatar....we'll then have a moment where the family will have to make a choice of allegiance and, they will choose differently, split up for a few episodes then have this grand reconciliation at the end of the season....

I'm actually tuning in just to hope that this isn't what happens!

I can't be 100% sure, but I thought they were using that creature to remove the oxygen from the man's body. He said something like "They told me it will take X hours, and that was X hours ago!!" so she took it off. It's basically a giant leech, a blood sucking thing, so maybe it removes enough blood?

Anyway, no it wasn't perfect but I was entertained and I don't regret watching it yet.

Yeah, she did act like that. Maybe she just saw it and assumed that's why it was there? Regardless, why just take it off without like...asking someone? haha.
