Okay, so I have a Fender combo amp and a Epiphone semi hollow guitar I play on every so often. The problem is that I will go to plug in the guitar, turn on the amp, and I get this terrible buzz when I'm not touching any metal part of the guitar. So I suspected a grounding problem. I suspected it to maybe be that the outlet does not support grounding but I use my music man bass and mesa boogie on it and it works fine, no noise problems. I bought an EBtech Hum Eliminator to stop what ever may be the cause and it actually makes a stronger buzz noise. I thought it could be cable problems a couple times so I used three different mogami cables, a planet waves cable, and a live wire. That didn't help at all. So I don't know if maybe a ground wire in the guitar might be loose causing the problem or maybe a loose wire in the fender combo amp. That same buzz noise occurs even when I don't have the guitar plugged in, just with a wire connected to the amp. Would buying a noise suppressor pedal or a noise gate be the fix for the problem? or should I take the amp and guitar to a repair shop? Any input would be appreciated, Thank you.
