TH500 Head and Aguilar tech support

Hello fellow TBers, I'm having trouble with a ToneHammer 500 head that is blowing fuses. The amp was behaving flawlessly in a recording studio until a few weeks ago when between takes it made a loud noise and the internal fuse blew. I tried replacing it with another fuse of the same rating but it popped immediately.

I tried to reach Aguilar tech support via email several times but I haven't received any answer yet. I know that they have been absorbed by Korg recently and perhaps that explains the lack of communication, but I wonder if anyone else had any luck contacting the tech support team.

Thanks in advance

Have you contacted an Aguilar authorized service center?

When the internal fuse opens on these amps, it signifies a major failure in the power supply. Do not keep replacing the fuse as there is the possibility that a catastrophic failure could happen resulting in injury if you are it the wrong spot.

There are no authorized service centers in my country, the local sales rep suggested contacting Aguilar directly, but I had no luck.
Thanks!

Even when Aguilar wasn't part of Korg, they were occasionally slow to reply to support/repair questions. Give it the weekend... I don't know if they still do, but Korg used to have staff working on weekends that would answer support emails. I got the occasional Saturday/Sunday reply from them for some keyboard issues.
That sounds reasonable, I'll insist after the weekend.
I didn't try the artist relations email as I'm not an Aguilar artist, but nevertheless I'll copy them too.

Thanks for the replies!

Geez, these wimpy modern amps, in the olden days lots of guys would just cram some tin foil into the fuse receptacles of their Marshalls LOL.

Seriously I knew people who actually did this and it worked.

But yeah it sounds like not a good thing to just keep replacing the fuse.

What country are you located in? Often, there are regional service centers that are used, not necessarily your country but your geographical region.

Not looking good for Aguilar who used to be very a available to the customer. I was strongly considering another Aguilar amp.
This gives me pause..

They make great amps, perhaps this is just temporary.
I've already owned an AG500SC and a Tonehammer 500. Also own GS112/112NT cabs. Owned DB112s and DB210. I am very familiar with their product but I recently put a call into them and did not receive a call back. In the past, they were very responsive. So something has changed and please don't say Covid. Someone can always answer a call or email.

I'm located in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Ok, try the distributor:
Distribution // Wholesale
Phone: 00 54 11 4629 7373
[email protected]

There's also a dealer:
Hendrix Music
Av. Rivadavia 17910, Morón
Buenos Aires, BA B1708EIT
Argentina
P: 54-11-5290-9446

Try both, they should be able to provide some information.

I reached them first, they suggested I contact Aguilar directly. Thanks anyway!
From my perspective, the issue may be more about those that you contacted in Argentina shirking their responsibility, and passing it on to someone else. If I purchased an Argentinean product in the US, I would expect the authorized dealer to support the product, not tell me to contact the parent company in Argentina for help. No matter which scenario, the customer is stuck with a product that needs service, and the seller is of no help. Condolences : /
