That Muse bass distortion

Okay, you missed my point...
I know what his setup was as of Absolution, and prior. Has it changed any since then for the current album?
I have a pedal that does the Muse Fuzz sound very well. It's a modified version of the Foxx Tone Machine. It's actually a Fuzz that has an octave built in, too.
Personally, as a huge fan of Chris W., I feel that the Woolly Mammoth comes pretty close to nailing some of the more "synthy" type sounds (TIRO, Hysteria). It can do that sort of harsh fuzz while keeping lots of bottom end. Expensive pedal, but worth every penny!

No, I didn't.
I did search, though. All info is current as of Absolution's pedal specs. No one's mentioned if it has changed since then, and I haven't seen any indications to question if it even has changed. I haven't seen a more current board photo since the Absolution stuff.
I'll just assume it hasn't for now, unless you noticed a thread I didn't.
...come to think of it, it wouldn't surprise me if I missed a thread about it.

In all fairness, though, Muse has been covered a lot here... there may be something that's fallen through the cracks.
Also, i believe it's matt bellamy, muse's guitarist, who uses the Zvex pedals... he has the guts of them, among other things, installed on his Manson guitars.

I dug up the Steve harris bass player, gear is as follows:
Fender American Jazz deluxe, a standard jazz, Pedulla Rapture and a Ric 4001
for amp he uses Marshall heads into Marshall 2X15s

I have no idea what you're talking about? maybe you're misunderstanding my statement, I meant: "I dug up the Bass Player Issue, with the Steve Harris cover story, which happens to also list Chris', from Muse, gear." Or is there something Im missing here entirely?

Sorry, most of us would never have guessed Harris was on the cover of that issue unless we had it on-hand. At least, I wouldn't have (I don't subscribe to it).
I saw them play last night- and was actually dissapointed given the amount of hype surrounding this guy. The tones were ok but the bass playing was fairly uninspired . Hysteria definately sounded like a deep impact as did some others. His distortion was good sounding but I think I was expecting more from him than that and the odd synth sound. I wasn't certain why he switched basses every song. Jazz bass then a modded rick (which got lost in the mix most songs)- He only played a pedulla on the last few songs and it sounded sooooo much better to my ears.

he has pad-type things on a couple different guitars. One has a MIDI strip controller, one has a Zvex Wah Probe and a MIDI controller that runs a Whammy, etc.
The guts of em all are otherwise similar-- mostly Rio Grande pickups, with a built in Fuzz Factory and MXR Phase 90.

I get a perfect imitation of that sound with my Digitech bass distortion/overdrive pedal.
